This is my favourite hotel in Cairns. The Reception, Front of House, Management staff here are extremely helpful. They store luggage, deal with received post and deal with numerous odd queries without being ruffled, always polite even when it turns out the customer was in error. The restaurant staff are great too. The beds are comfortable. It is right on the front and has a shuttle service to town but it is only a 20-25 minute walk to town and the lagoon. I stayed here on two separate nights and tried to book for another (they were full that night).

A hotel in a good location, the harbour views from the rooms are spectacular, if you pay for the view. Breakfast is of good quality, however, finding a clean table is very challenging due to lack of staff to clear away plates etc. Often there is nowhere to sit at busy times (weekends in particular). The buffet selection is good but not managed proactively, eggs, beans, tomatoes and other items were empty on many occasions. The coffee machine was broken for 2 days, as a result the hot water used continuously, it ran out and not topped up. The general manager and assistant manager often walk around the dining room but don’t appear to notice the lack of clean tables or food replenishments, this is easily manageable. In the bar, the happy hour, which is only one hour compared to all other bars which do 2 hours, is not really a happy hour there is no draught (tap) beer available or cocktails, the drinks available are very limited. They really need to restructure their approach to customer experience and monitor deeply instead of hovering.

This is one of several hotels looking out to the sea on the esplanade in Cairns and is one of the furtherst from the city centre, but also one of the closest to the airport. Our room was spotless, air conditioned and comfortable. The bed was lovely and the see view great if you ignored the burnt out property between the hotel and sea front. So why not a higher rating? Because the staff weren't the friendliest, the cooked breakfast buffet was luke warm and certainly wasn't worth A$30 each. You can't get a coffee, hot chocolate or similar in the bar in the evening c7.30pm as the staff had cleaned the machine and couldn't be arsed to help the paying guest.
