“A veneer of luxury…..”

…..But quite ordinary. We booked this in the middle of the city to be able to visit family. While it is fairly central, the hills and stairs in the area made it tough going. The room was a good size, with a huge bed and a good-sized bathroom, which actually had a bath! We loved the big balcony outs… more

While it is fairly central, the hills and stairs in the area made it tough going. The room was a good size, with a huge bed and a good-sized bathroom, which actually had a bath! We loved the big balcony outside too. Very useful. But when it came down to it, it became obvious that routine maintenance is not being done. The phone in the room had been damaged, and didn’t work, the air con was stuck on the winter setting, so no cool air, and if the tap in the bathroom sink was turned on any more than a gentle drizzle, the whole area would get sprayed! The lifts were a bit iffy too, and weren’t always working. Bit tough, as we were on the top floor. We gave up complaining eventually, as we were only there for one night. The whole place has an air of neglect, as if the owners really don’t want to spend money on it. Such a shame, as it has the potential to be a stunning hotel..
