“Decent option- would stay again but skip Executive Lounge”

Had a decent stay at this hotel. Positives: - location good- tram stop literally across the street - generally clean and tidy - decent facilities - senior staff dealt with any problems responsively and positively - room adequate size - several food options- room service, restaurant downstairs (had a wonderful paid coffee downstairs near the lobby pretty late at night) - solid buffet breakfast downstairs good quality - staff happy to come up to your room to deliver things rather than making you trek downstairs which was appreciated as a tired traveller - a decent number of lifts (at least 4 maybe more)- never had to wait a long time for a lift which was wonderful! Areas for improvement: - Executive Lounge- food especially the pre dinner snacks were awful! Cheap and poor selection. Didn’t seem like Executive Lounge quality at all. Honestly couldn’t find anything decent to eat even though not generally picky. Realised on the first night that basically the only thing decent on offer in the Executive Lounge were the drinks in the fridge - Executive Lounge coffee machine ‘not working’ when visited the lounge on 2 separate occasions. - bottled water had also ‘run out’ in the Executive Lounge (supposedly because they had a busy breakfast but it still had not been restocked by midday) - Executive Lounge also not staffed during checkout time which sort of defeats the supposed advantage of private lounge checkout. It must be said that staff were responsive when alerted to Executive Lounge issues though. - no Nespresso machine in room- only instant coffee - rooms in general fairly dated and tired looking - man at Concierge (tallish, balding anglo-saxon man with a paunch and slight beard) was awful! Very unhelpful, rude, and laughably puffed up, egotistic and arrogant. Other staff were lovely and very apolgetic when he seemed to have trouble owning and apologising for an obvious hotel admin mistake. Not sure why someone with such poor customer service skills is being permitted to interact with customers at Concierge - room service food average- not anything special but was adequate and convenient, with friendly service. So quite a mixed experience overall. Decent hotel- solid option but lacks the five star ‘luxe’ feel. Some issues but staff seemed to care about fixing them. Price decent and would be happy to stay again, skipping the Executive Lounge and picking a standard room. Great to see and visit Adelaide :)

“Comfortable stay”

We stayed 3 nights in a KING Hilton Deluxe. We found our room quiet, and the bed was comfortable. Crabtree & Evelyn bathroom products [highly perfumed]. The hotel is in a good location. There is a tram stop out the front which is in the free transit zone and is 2 stops to the city. Last time we stayed there was a supermarket as part of the surrounding complex that also includes the markets, the supermarket is no longer there. Guessing this has something to do with the construction going on next door to build the new market complex. Concierge was good on local knowledge when we asked where a good Italian restaurant was and also good coffee. The young man who checked us in was very friendly and helpful.

The hotel promises a refurbishment is coming, but I would honestly avoid it until that’s been complete, it’s like the land that time forgot. The hotel promises a refurbishment is coming, but I would honestly avoid it until that’s been complete, it’s like the land that time forgot. Comfy bed but the room/bathroom is so dated, I felt that I had stepped into a hotel 15/20 years ago. Exec lounge was nice, evening drinks had lots of options for food and drink and friendly service. Breakfast similar in the lounge, but 2 mornings out of 3 the coffee machine was not working - unacceptable when the only coffee in the room is instant! . Personally if you can’t provide decent coffee, what most people want with breakfast, then the lounge shouldn’t open! Last morning, WiFi was completely down, frustrating when I had stuff I needed to send, so opted to head to the airport earlier. A refurbishment may be coming, but it’s like until then zero efforts are being made and it’s being left to fade. If you want a comfy bed in a dated hotel, book here. This property though is no way up to the standards of a Hilton and unless a refurb comes soon I can see it being downgraded to another brand. It’s just not competitive when the city has so many great hotel options.
