I was just blessed to spend 6 nights at the La Isla Victoria and it truly is a magical place. There is a very sacred energy to this island. And combined with the beauty and casualness of the lodge it is a place to relax, to come back home to yourself. To spend hours on the beach, swimming in the lake, hiking this sacred land. Napping by the pool. Yes there is adventure, more importantly there is beauty and a chance to commune with Patagonia. With this land. It provides a chance to get away from the noise and see what unfolds when there are no schedules. When it about connecting to your own flow and pleasure. It is about being in nature and feeling the power of it. About walking and seeing so many different types of trees, plants. To hear birds I’ve never heard before. To swim out to a small island and spend an hour or two there napping the sun. You just get to slow down and be. What a gift. This is a place with great love, with great views, with incredible nature, with beautiful energy. This is a place to get away and come back to yourself. This place is a gift to the world. A reminder of what magic can happen when you step away from the noise, from the to-dos. Because the Hosteria, with 22 rooms, is the only lodging on the island, you have so much of this place to yourself to explore and enjoy as you desire.

“Wondefull !!!!!!!!”

We spend one of the most magnificent vacación-week of our life. Beautiful place and sceneries. Delicious food and excelent service. It is a very nice place for trekking and to ride horses. Delicious views all around the lodge.

Nestled on a cliff overlooking beautiful Lago Nahuel Huapi, the Hosteria on Isla Victoria is truly a magical place. Arriving on the island in the hotel's private launch after a leisurely ride on the glacier lake, we were met by a nephew of the owner and driven to the hotel, the only one on the island. The hotel is very private with only 20 rooms and is very luxurious. The gourmet dining is absolutely divine. Chef Fernando is very shy so we did not actually meet him but we have subsequently met many in the field who know him and find him as special as we did. The meals were spectacular! Even on the one night when we were the only clients, we still had a choice of dishes. Each mid day meal and evening meal offers three courses with choices of 2 different menus. The wine was excellent. Everything about the dining was special. Our waitress was knowledgeable and accommodating and very helpful. In addition to the gourmet dining, we also hiked and rode horses. The horses are very special; they are the small, hardy and beautiful Criollas (We call them duns or buckskins in the US). They were a delight to ride. We pursued trails around the island and paused for spectacular views along the way. The day we chose to hike around the island, we were thoroughly surprised to have a gourmet picnic for lunch. It was truly amazing! We enjoyed a cold buffet on the beach complete with choice of red or white wines, mineral or still water, soft drinks or beer. The freshly brewed French press coffee was over the top! Everything about our visit to Isla Victoria was first class; we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

Owned by Mare Sur Hotels, this is a related facility to Lao Lao and Hotel Tunquelin. However, being set on Victoria Island in the middle of a mountain lake, makes this a truly unique and quiet spot. Imagine this; the hotel, a 1980’s reconstruction of a lodge, cypress beams everywhere, perched on top of a 200 foot cliff, overlooking a beach, on a sheltered bay on an island in the middle of National Park. Perhaps 14 rooms in total. Does it get any better than that? And this is the only accommodation available on the island. The 22km island is largely off-limits to hikers unless accompanied by certified guides, who happen to work at the lodge. We opted for a day of horseback rising around the island (you could also hike, bike or kayak), complete with a Vanderbilt-style picnic waiting for us on a remote beach. All included of course in the daily rate, as is everything at this resort. The rooms are magnificent, there are so many quiet rooms and nooks to read and reflect we lost count. The food was wonderful and the service amazing. It’s a pricey spot by Argentine standards, but well worth the pleasure by ours.
