Calas de Mallorca

Family Fun

Calas de Mallorca is Manacor's main holiday resort, Rafael Nadal, the famous tennis player’s hometown. During the massive tourist expansion in the ’60s, this privileged coast was developed with the construction of elegant hotels and tourist areas, which became the ideal environment to spend a quiet holiday on the Mediterranean Sea. Its holiday resorts dotted with beautiful gardens, relaxing swimming pools, full facilities and amusing activity programmes make Calas de Mallorca one of the favourite destinations of European tourists. Here couples and families will find a wide range of good quality hotels to suit everyone.

In this area, you will find beautiful beaches and small unspoilt “calas” in a natural environment: Es Domingos Petits, Es Domingos Grans, Cala Antena, especially recommended for scuba diving to explore its incredible sea bed.  Nearby, we find Cala Murada, Porto Cristo, an old fishermen’s port and the attractive Drach Caves, one of the most visited sites on the island, where you can see underground lakes, stalactites and stalagmites, while you listen to a group of musicians playing Chopin, it is a unique show.

The magic creek “Ses Fonts Ufanes”

Not far from the chapel of “Sant Miquel”, in the village of Campanet, nearly every year a unique hydrological phenomenon occurs. In Rainy autumns and winters, as if by magic, incredible fountains of water flow out of the ground at the Finca Gabellí, they can reach a volume of 100.00 liters per second. They are the known as “Ses Fonts Ufanes”. This interesting phenomenon, which has been classified as a Natural Monument by the local Baleares Government is as impressive as difficult to see, as this only happens three to seven times a year, when sufficient water has been accumulated in the peak of Puig Tomir and surroundings.  For this reason, every time this wonder occurs, many spectators and excursionists visit the site to take photographs.
