Izmir

Cultural center and beautiful spa

Bathed by the Aegean Sea. Its coast tells mythological stories to the sound of a mild sea breeze. The Beautiful Izmir, is the third largest city of Turkey, after Istanbul and Ankara. Place of birth of the ancient poet Homero, the streets of Izmir still reflect nowadays the traces of the Greek Empire, which blends with the miscegenation of the cosmopolitan metropolis. The short stretch to the northern coast is a must for history lovers: the impressive ruins found in Pergamo (a classic and splendorous site) and Behramkale, whose hill is topped by the Ionic Athenea Temple, with a splendid view of the sea.

Visit the Jewish districts of Asansör or Havra Sokak, the numerous museums and monuments of the city or some of the various mosques such as the Hisar Mosque, built in the 16th century. Take some time for a getaway to the island of Bozcaada, whose gorgeous beaches and rich gastronomy will make the most of a unique experience.
