El Vendrell Coma-ruga

Tarragona Paradise

Due to its location, at a crossroads open to the sea, El Vendrell has historically been a place of passage and a crossroads for cultures, commercial exchanges and the sharing of ideas. Just 3.5 km from the town, the beaches of the maritime districts of San Salvador, Comarruga and Francàs are one of the main attractions of the municipality.

A beach of about seven kilometres in length and awarded the Blue Flag and ISO 14001, is low, rectilinear and made up of fine sandy shores. Visitors can enjoy the sun and beach tourism, as well as gymnastics and other sports on the sand and in nature. All of this tourist activity is complemented by the wide range of cultural activities, thermal baths (thermal village), festivals, cycling tourism, hiking and gastronomy.

Culturally, there is an important network of museums, such as the Pau Casals Museum, on the beach of Sant Salvador; the Casa Nativa de Pau Casals, the Casa Museu Àngel Guimerà, the Deu Museum and the Apel-les Fenosa Sculptor's Foundation, which is located in one of the most iconic places in our city, the Portal del Pardo.

One dish you must try if you visit El Vendrell is the xató, made with endive, tuna and desalted and crumbled cod, accompanied by anchovies, black olives and Arbequina olives, seasoned with a delicious romesco sauce. To accompany this magnificent local gastronomy, we have the cavas and wines produced in the region that form part of the internationally recognised D.O. Penedès.
