Little San Salvador Island, also known as Half Moon Cay, is one of the approximately 700 islands in the Bahamas and is approximately 10 miles from the capital, Nassau. Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America Line share the beaches of this private paradise. Holland America Line bought the island in 1996 and decided to leave the majority of the island as a protected nature reserve. Only two percent of the island is cultivated. This is especially appreciated by photographers and birdwatchers when exploring reserves and their biodiversity. At 10 square kilometers, the island is small enough to explore in one day and at the same time big enough to enjoy a variety of activities: horse riding, snorkeling with manta rays, various water sports and much more. Of course, you can also just relax on one of the fantastic beaches and occasionally dive in the crystal clear sea to cool off. The handicraft market offers souvenirs made in the Bahamas and located in the bars or Tropics Restaurant on the Caribbean beach waiting for you to enjoy delicious dishes and refreshing drinks.
Harvest Cay in the Caribbean from Belize is being sailed on Caribbean cruises by the ships of the Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Sea Cruises. With a diverse ecosystem of jungles, wetlands, swamps and coral reefs, the stunning Harvest Caye countryside offers both tranquility and adventure. Norwegian Cruise Line has worked closely with the Government of Belize to ensure that this incredible destination is preserved in its stunning natural beauty. Guests can relax in the white sands or enjoy exciting shore excursions ranging from zip lines across the island to snorkelling in the world's second largest barrier reef. There are plenty of eco-activities and water sports available, including kayaking, paddleboarding and canoeing in the shallow lagoon of Harvest Caye with its abundant wildlife.
A popular stop on many Princess cruises through the Eastern and Southern Caribbean is Princess Cays in the Bahamas. Located on the southern tip of Eleuthera Island, the holiday paradise is run by Princess Cruises and offers long sandy beaches and water sports activities for a great day out. Unlike other private islands you can also get in contact with the locals because Eleuthera is inhabited. Around 8,000 people live here traditionally from agriculture, fishing but also from tourism. The island is characterized by dazzling white beaches, coconut palms, mangroves and coral reefs and is one of the most beautiful islands in the Bahamas. Guests can spend relaxing hours under the Caribbean sun, take a glass-bottomed boat trip, or experience the tropical underwater world around the coral reef off the coast on a snorkeling trip. There is also plenty to take care of your physical well-being: numerous beach bars and restaurants offer cool drinks and a classic barbecue. Also traditional beach bungalows for up to four people are available for rent and promise Caribbean flair in a personal atmosphere. Those who are more interested in culture can get to know little villages and the city of Rock Sound on an island tour in addition to the fascinating landscape.
Castaway Cay, geographically Gorda Cay, is the small private island of Disney Cruise Line in the archipelago of the Bahamas. For example, particularly endangered coral reefs are protected and the nests of rare sea turtles guarded. Castaway Cay invites its guests to tropical weather and relaxation in an oasis of the Bahamas with unmistakable Disney hospitality. You will find here everything you need for a perfect beach holiday, lounge chairs and umbrellas to delicious food and family friendly entertainment.
