Tasiilaq, formerly Ammassalik, is a town in the Sermersooq municipality in the south east of Greenland and is the most populated town on Greenland’s east coast. Sitting just below the Arctic Circle, Tasiilaq is a picturesque and idyllic place with traditional brightly coloured houses, trickling streams and snow capped mountains surrounding the town. Home to some unique flora and fauna, the region is a strikingly beautiful place with plenty of trails and routes to walk in the summer months with stunning views, especially from Tasiilaq’s Cairn, built in 1944 to celebrate the town’s 50th anniversary.
