Kirkenes is located in the Norwegian county of Finnmark 240miles North of the Arctic Circle. Kirkenes has approximately 5000 inhabitants and is the principal port in the Barents Sea near Norway's border with Russia. During the summer period between May 17 to July 21 visitors can marvel at the "Midnight Sun" as non-stop daylight takes over. The winter equivilant takes place between November 21 to January 21 when the sun never rises.
