Valparaiso (Chile)

Considered "the Jewel of Pacific", ValparaĂ­so is a city nestled in a natural amphitheater, surrounded by 45 mounts that fall abruptly into the sea. Declared World Heritage by UNESCO, ValparaĂ­so tells the basis of its development through its historical architecture, its traditions and its art. This city has inspired well-known writers, architects, musicians and draftsmen due to the charms of its colorful scenery. The most prolific writer was Pablo Neruda, who resided in the city, built his house and wrote several of his outstanding works here.

Alejandro Selkirk Island (Chile)

Alejandro Selkirk Island, previously known as Más Afuera (Farther Out (to Sea)) and renamed after the sailor Alexander Selkirk, is the largest and most westen island in the Juan Fernández Archipelago of the Valparaíso Region of Chile. It is located 110 miles west of Robinson Crusoe Island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. In the island we can find fur seals, Masafuera rayadito (one of the rarest South American birds with only 140 individuals left).

Adamstown (Pitcairn Islands)

Adamstown is the only settlement on, and as such, the capital of, the Pitcairn Islands. The settlement is located on the central-north side of the island of Pitcairn, facing the Pacific Ocean and close to the Bounty Bay , the only seaport of the island. Adamstown has a population of 48, which is the entire population of the Pitcairn Islands: all the other islands in the group are uninhabited. Adamstown is where most residents eat and sleep, while they grow food in other areas of the island. The hamlet currently holds the record for being the smallest capital in the world. It has access to television, satellite internet, and a telephone. The main means of communication is still the ham radio.

Nuku Hiva (Marquesas Islands)

Nuku Hiva is the largest island in the French Polynesian Marquises archipelago. It is known for it's 550 meters Ahuii waterfall in the Hakaui Valley. It's amazing beauty goes from the waters to the mountains. The coast is very different from the inland, from a regular coastline in the west to a deep bay to the north, that take you to deeps valleys in the interior. In the south of the island there are a few bays. The inhabitants of the island live in Taiohae, Taipivai, Hatiheu, Aakapa, Pua Houmi, Anaho and Hakaui. Taiohae is the administrative , economical, educational and health centre of the Marquesas Islands. the bay of Taiohae has shape of anfitheatre and the remains of a volcanic crater. The valley is full of Tiki gods stone, ritual places and sculptures. The island offers beautiful places to go diving.

Atuona Marquesas Islands (French Polynesia)

Atuona, located on Atuona Bay on the southern side of Hiva Oa island, is the administrative centre of the commune (municipality) of Hiva-Oa. Atuona was the capital of all the Marquesas Islands (French Polynesia) but it has been replaced by Taiohae (on Nuku Hiva). The peak Temetiu, rising to 3,980 ft above sea level, towers above the town. Atuona was the final home of Paul Gauguin, who died there in 1903 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, which overlooks the town. The Belgian singer Jacques Brel is also buried there. In 2003, construction on the Paul Gauguin Cultural Center was completed in Atuona.
