The tangled streets are beautiful and inspired in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

The city remains one of the most expansive examples of the technique, nearly all walkways and even many streets being created and maintained in this style.

Vigo is not only one of the major industrial and economic cities in Galicia, but it is also one of the more important Roman centers of Pontevedra. Although within the city one will not find much Romanesque architecture, it can be seen a few miles away from the city center. In many of the municipality's neighborhoods and parishes a large number of Roman ruins remain. Such is the importance of the Roman remains in Vigo that many Spanish authors have come to coin the term Romanesque Vigo.
