La Romana, on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic, is described by Lonely Planet as a bustling city hugging the Rio Chavon. The surrounding region offers all the classic attractions of a Caribbean destination, sandy beaches, upscale beachfront resorts and ample opportunities for water sports and excursions. Philipsburg is the main town and capital of the country of Sint Maarten. The town is situated on a narrow stretch of land between Great Bay and the Great Salt Pond.
