Today Dover is a major port town facing into the English Channel and the second busiest cruise port in the UK. What makes Dover so special is its impressive location with miles of beautiful, un-spoilt coastline and its internationally famous White Cliffs dominated by Dover Castle, known throughout the world. Dover is the town in Kent which is geographically closest to the continent and, as the world´s busiest ferry port, many justifiably describe as ´the gateway to England´. The cliffs are popular with tourists and offer the opportunity for wonderful walks and superb views out towards the English Channel. Or you may simply choose to simply gaze at them from the beach.

Fowey, England

Fowey is a small fishing town on the south coast of Cornwall, situated at the mouth of the river Fowey. It is set on the west side of a steep valley. There are many pubs and restaurants. The place comes alive in the summer, and the Fowey Regatta in mid August attracts many yachts and sailing boats. Fowey Harbour is a picturesque place to visit with good facilities and a friendly atmosphere. walking is the easiest way to get around. TWalk along the coastal path in either direction passing by some beautiful and quiet beaches, or hire cycles in the nearby Pentewan village and go for a ride along the many cycle paths nearby.

Ullapool is a traditional Highland fishing village founded by the British Fishery Society in 1788. It sits on a sheltered arm of land jutting into Loch Broom and has a natural deepwater harbour, one of the best in Scotland, which was carved out by the glaciers of the last ice age. The town has two main streets with signs in English and Gaelic, and a number of shops selling quality crafts and gifts. Visit the famous Inverewe Gardens, which is an oasis of exotic plants bursting with vibrant colour, and take in the amazing Highland scenery.

Torshavn (Faroe Islands)

Torshavn is a big commercial city on the east side of the isle of Streme. Outstands for its nature and richness in historical monuments. You can walk down the groves, parks and streets, where you can see small houses of multiple shapes and colours, constructed during the 19th century. The nicest is Gongin Street, where we can find constructions of the 16th and 17th century. A place to visit is the monastery of Munkastovan, a building that seems very heavy, built in the 15th century. Near we can find another known building and very old, the stock Royal Leigubun stockhouse. The city has many museums and exhibition halls. In the historical museum, the outdoor museum called Kurdalsvegur. The theatre and music lovers will be able to see the nordic House Cultural Centre, where clasical music concerts are given, theatrical performances and artistic exhibitions.

Grundarfjordur (Iceland)

Grundarfjörður is a small town, situated in the north of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in the west of Iceland. The town had 938 inhabitants in 2004 and 974 inhabitants in 2005. The town is situated in front of an impressive mountain range which has a slightly alpine look. On the sea side, there is a mountain called Kirkjufell, a diverted piece of the mountain strip Mýrarhyrna. The mountain forms a small peninsula.The town received the right to do commerce in 1786. Around 1800, French merchants came to Iceland and lived in Grundarfjörður, where they constructed a church and a hospital of their own. The town has become rich through the fishing industry, and this wealth shows in the style of the original, luxurious houses being built. The road to nearby Stykkishólmur crosses a big lava field, called Berserkjahraun. This is partially warm, so that even in winter, there is not snow everywhere. The name of the lava field comes from the Eyrbyggja saga, according to which two Berserkers were slain here by their master, because one of them fell in love with his master´s daughter. Akureyri is a town in northern Iceland. It is Iceland's second largest urban area (after the Greater Reykjavík area) and fourth largest municipality (after Reykjavík, Hafnarfjörður, and Kópavogur). Nicknamed the Capital of North Iceland, Akureyri is an important port and fishing centre. The area has a relatively warm climate due to geographical factors, and the town's ice-free harbour has played a significant role in its history. Sites that have been cited as areas of interest include various museums, churches, and the Botanical Gardens. Local museums include the Akureyri Museum, Akureyri Art Museum, Nonni house or Jón Sveinsson Memorial Museum, for the writer, David's house or Davíð Stefánsson Memorial Museum, for the poet), Akureyri Museum of Industry, a motorcycle museum,[and Aviation Museum. The most northerly botanical gardens and the most northerly 18 hole golf course in the world are in the town.The Nature Museum was is in the grounds of the Botanical Gardens.The Botanical Gardens are located in Spítalavegur. Anse aux Meadows New Foundland (Canada)

L'Anse aux Meadows (Jellyfish Cove") is an archaeological site on the northernmost tip of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Discovered in 1960, it is the most famous site of a Norse or Viking settlement in North America outside of Greenland. Dating to around the year 1000, L'Anse aux Meadows remains the only widely accepted instance of pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact and is notable for its possible connection with the attempted colony of Vinland established by Leif Ericson around the same time period or, more broadly, with Norse exploration of the Americas. It was named a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1978.
