This city has inspired well-known writers, architects, musicians and draftsmen due to the charms of its colorful scenery. The most prolific writer was Pablo Neruda, who resided in the city, built his house and wrote several of his outstanding works here.

Puerto Montt (Chile)

It is the capital od the region of Lagos, at the northern end of the Reloncaví Sound in the Llanquihue Province. Puerto Montt was founded in 1853 by Vicente Perez Rosales. One year before the german immigrants had arrived to the city with Valdivia and Osorno. From the bay of Puerto Montt you can view the Corcovado and the volcanoes of Michinmahuida. The bussiness section and the central services of the city are all around the the Plaza Manuel Irrazabal with a lovely view to the sea, and the cathedral located north of the plaza.
