This Southern Ice Field is in the midst of Chilean Patagonian, with an approximate area of 13,900 km2 and an overall length of 350 kilometres from north to south, and gives birth to 48 glacier basins, which makes if the third most important freshwater reserve on the planet. This enormous mass of ice is the origin of the one of the biggest and spectacular glaciers of the southern hemisphere, like the Amalia Glacier and fjords like Calvo, with its waters full of floating multicoloured age-old icebergs.
