Cerro Brujo (Galapagos)

Cerro Brujo or Warlock Hillfrom is an eroded tuff cone shaped hill and it has got its name from The Pajaro Brujo or the Vermilion Flycatcher, a small red and black bird. The Vermilion Flycatcher used to be seen on the hill, but now they are very rare there. Another explanation of the name is that Cerro Brujo has got its name from the shape of the hill, which is supposed to look like a witch hat. There is also a lagoon where there can be seen several species of birds and also where in the past locals used to go to collect salt in order to preserve food. There is only one road that leads Puerto Baquerizo Moreno in the west to the beach of puerto Chino on the west coast. On the way you'll pass the villages El Progreso and Cerro Verde. There are also buses called collectivos going to the different villages or you can also take a taxi.
