Naviera y Turismo Skorpios S.A. Is a family corporation that was founded by Don Constantino Kochifas Cárcamo, a shipbuilder and well-known entrepreneur from the South of Chile. Together with his family, he has developed this tourist activity using creativity and professionalism to turn it into a national and internationally known product. Today, the company has one of the largest shipping fleets in the southern cone, with 2 tourist ships, in addition to more than 28 cargo vessels.
Their mission is to turn Chile and Patagonia into a great international tourist destination. M/V Skorpios II sails from the Skorpios Terminal in Puerto Montt, a town located 1,000 km south of Santiago, which can be reached by road or air. This 5 day cruise that covers 800 miles, sails every Saturday to return on Thursday between the months of September and May. The cruise covers 800 miles for a magical encounter with the age-old ice formations of the Glaciar San Rafael, sailing through awesome archipelagos, channels and gulfs to tour this incredible territory that includes towns like Castro and the fishing village of Puerto Aguirre, which display the natural wonders of a vigorous landscape and wildlife which is best appreciated at Fiordo Quitralco with its hot springs and excursions to its vast island-peppered sea.
Service is based on an attention that is personalized, cordial and pleasant, as is the temperament of the people of the south of Chile and which is also part of the distinctive family service with international quality and style. The slightest detail has top priority in terms of the service offered by Skorpios and their daily target is to satisfy passengers’ needs.

M/V Skorpios III sails from the Skorpios Terminal in Puerto Natales, a town located 2,500 km south of Santiago, which can be reached by air from Punta Arenas or by land from Argentina. This 3-night cruise sails for the Southern Ice Fields every Tuesday and Friday (see sailing Schedule) to return every Monday and Thursday between the months of October and April, covering 380 miles, which cover most of the glaciers in the area, namely Amalia, El Brujo, Bernal and Herman, and those located in the area of Fiordo Calvo. The cruise includes around 15 glaciers, some of which we will contemplate and admire directly, walking up to their front and moraines, and sailing through multi-coloured ice-floes on smaller expedition vessels like the Capitán Konstantino; from where we will have the chance to observe de varied Patagonian flora and fauna in all its natural glory.
The entire fleet and its shipboard and on land staff and their special collaborators, maintain a special respect for environmental protection, following the policies established by the Company in order that their vessels fulfil National and lnternational regulations regarding environmental protection and all that it entails.
ln their permanent interest in innovation and creating new instances of service excellence, they have set up a joint operation with the National Forest Corporation, CONAF, establishing mutual cooperation links for the conservation of the environment and ecosystems, which might be affected by their presence in the area, including the construction of paths with small bridges to reach glaciers that are far from the sea in the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, and talks and lectures on caring for the environment in which they sail, all of which is aimed at making their presence as environmental friendly as possible.
The penguins are part of the characteristic fauna of the Southern Hemisphere and Patagonia. Undoubtedly the elegant look of the black-white plumage and funny gait is an important attraction for all passengers, particularly as they can be observed in their natural habitat.
