Fantastic hotel - choice and presentation of food cannot be faulted. Staff in the dining rooms are super helpful and we have no complaints about the cleanliness or the service. Pool area and gardens are really beautiful and well Kept. So much to do without having to leave the hotel - from using the spa, enjoying the beach and Watersports, having fun on the slides, playing pool or bowling or enjoying some of the many lovely areas around the grounds. There were very few English speaking guests and the staff’s grasp of English is hit and miss so be prepared to not always be understood. Guests seemed to be predominantly German with some Dutch and some Turkish. If you like a glass of wine with your meal, the only all inclusive option is going to be local wine which may not be to everyone’s taste. On Italian night (Tuesday for us) There was the option to choose from a wider variety of wines - a bottle was around €20) but it would be great to have a wider wine list to choose from every night for those who enjoy their wine. I had my Apple Watch stolen from my bag around the pool on our last day here. We were able to track it to a street of electronic shops nearby so make sure you are careful about your personal items whilst at the pool. If you want to be guaranteed a sunbed around the pool, you need to be up to reserve one with your pool towel early - any time between 6-7.30 am. There are plenty of beds and loads of umbrellas but in high season they do go quickly. We had a few minor issues with reception and asking for things to be done. I had reported our air con was not working properly and the shower needed fixed but neither of these issues were resolved in the 10 days we were there. We took a trip into Side one evening for dinner. There were 8 of us so we booked a taxi bus through the airport taxi stand at reception - it cost €70 return with the driver meeting us at a set time for the return journey. I have a feeling there is also a taxi stand just across the road from the hotel which may be cheaper… Side is well worth a visit though. Beautiful old sea side town with historic ruins and lovely shops and restaurants. If you get a taxi, it will drop you off outside the town and you either have to walk through the ruins or you can pay €2/3 each to get a little golf buggy into the centre of the town. The walk in was nice though, but the ride back was worth it. Tips to staff - it is common to give staff small tips then they work hard for you, especially at meal times. For English guests, i would recommend bringing a purse full of Euro coins (not sterling) so you can give €1/2 to staff regularly (OR some smaller Turkish Lira notes such as a 50 or 100). Staff in Turkey are paid very little so they really appreciate everything you can give them. Money wise, we found everything was advertised in Euros. Lira could be used but sterling was pretty non existent. It was common to be able to use card in a lot of the shops and at the hotel though. A trip to the spa is worth it. We availed of a 15 minute taster massage which then turned into a sales pitch where they offered 3/4 massages for a cheaper price. If you like massages, I would say this is well worth it though if you can get a good price. There is a wide range of Inflatables that can be bought in the hotel shop. A small ring with handles was €14 and a larger one €16. We bought rings online at home before going for £7.99, much better value. The rings are really great for the pool slides - there is one in particular which is best with a ring. We had such fun on this. About a 3/4 minute walk out the front of the hotel, there are a variety of little shops selling bags, shoes, T shirts and hoodies Etc at great prices. Well worth a visit. do consider leaving space to bring anything you purchase home with you! There are a couple of shops in the hotel which also sell good value clothes, shoes etc. A few things for the hotel to consider just to improve things even more… My husband used the gym every day - there were regularly younger boys using it unsafely - e.g. on the treadmill in flip flops or just messing around with the weights. There was no one there to supervise or ensure safety. Lifeguards around the pool were very limited and there was rarely any lifeguard supervision at the slides area. When we did see one, they were either on their phone, smoking or messing around with the younger guests. For the size of the pool and the number of people, I feel there should be much more of a lifeguard presence. There were quite a few stray cats around the grounds. They are skinny and look very hungry - a few had eye infections and one was limping. I have heard that Turkey is a country of cat lovers and are known for treating their cats well. We saw this in Side the evening we visited there. As a large hotel, I imagine it throws away mountains of food every day. it would be easy to make sure these cats are well fed and looked after. I appreciate not everyone is a cat lover but if they are healthy and happy, it stands to reason that they will not wander around begging for food And annoying guests. For anyone who loves cats, it is heartbreaking to see them so neglected. Overall, we had a fantastic stay. The Hotel is pretty impressive and although it is huge, the inside and outside areas feel spacious and well maintained. We would definitely recommend but please …. Take care of the cats!!!
