It all started with abit of a shakey start from the hotel trying to charge us the full amount even though we had already paid half (quickly resolved once proof shown). Followed by being sent to a different room than we had booked (we booked a bungalow rather than a standard hotel room). This took a little longer to resolve as we were told all the rooms were fully booked, however they managed to find one (important note: 2 days later we were offered an upgrade into a hotel room junior suite, however we had already settled in our room and actually preferred our location to the upgrade so declined. This was a nice gesture as following a 9 hour trip not a great first experience). The room we stayed in was ok but looked and felt abit dated and the bathroom was small, more 4* than 5. I have to say from then on it just got better and better as the days went on. The pools offer great options from children’s pool (brilliant size) with music to an escape quiet pool surrounded by the bungalows. The slides were great for adults and children. The children’s entertainment was fantastic with a special shout out to Said who was absolute class! The adults entertainment was also great with air rifle shooting and archery which were very well run by Askin! There were great options to spend the day from the pool to the beach with many bars and great facilities dotted all around. There was an adults only beach area and bar. For evening and breakfast we ate at the buffet which offered a wide choice of decent quality food. For lunch we ate around and found a great snack bar at the beach. There was always free water and ice creams available and the drinks were great with no scrimping. There was some subbed hogging but no morning rush which was nice and there was usually always some available. The staff were all very friendly and great with children. Spa was very nice. A few improvements could be the information at check in as we weren’t told we needed to book the restaurants in advance which is why we missed out and maybe add some free water activities I.e. canoeing or paddle boarding. Overall a very positive experience.

We stayed at the Xanadu Resort in late September and have very few complaints. My only slight criticisms are that the rooms are adequate but not spectacular, the shower could have been a bit more powerful and the location is a bit isolated. The hotel is surrounded by similar sized hotels, a golf club and the sea so if you want to go for a long walk your options are limited, although the hotel grounds are quite big. If you want to visit Belek town centre you will need a taxi. The food in the main restaurant was varied and delicious. Plenty of good quality seafood, steaks and vegetarian options. The drinks included in the all-inclusive are very good including brands such as Jamesons. The cocktails are really good as well. You can also have lattes and cappuccinos as part of the all-inclusive. There are a few al a carte restaurants, 2 are free, the Italian and the Turkish. If you want to go to either make sure you book as soon as possible as they are very busy. The hotel itself is spotless. The pool is large and there is another pool for the kids. There are plenty of sun beds available. The sea was actually warmer than the pool and there are a few bars and restaurants on the beach and is a bit quieter and more relaxing than the pool area. The best part of the hotel is undoubtedly the staff. They are all so friendly and helpful. Special mentions to Fred, the pool waiter who delivers drinks on roller skates around the pool area and is very helpful, the manager (I think) of the Turkish restaurant whose name I can’t remember, nothing is too much trouble for him. There is an Iranian lady (again whose name I can’t remember, I’m sorry) in the main bar who is very funny and attentive and Selma who also works in the main bar who is always smiling and is so kind and well-mannered. These people made our holiday a 5 star experience rather than a 4 star and make the Xanadu Resort what it is.

Was looking forward to this holiday for some time based on the reviews. Agree the decor is outdated and ended up with a bruised thigh when a parasol went flying in the wind because they don’t fit into the bases properly. It could really do with updating to be able to claim its 5*. There was a wide selection of food for adults if you like meat but we did not manage to have 1 hot meal while out there even when we waited for 30 mins for a chicken wrap and chips to come from the snack bar this was freezing cold. The kids food was a bit samey boiled veal, boiled chicken etc my kids ended up eating either pasta or chips for dinner all week. The biggest disappointment for us was the kids club, we picked this hotel over any of the others for what was supposed to be an outstanding kids club. It was fine for my 7 year old although he was getting bored with some of the activities, but was able to pick and choose. The issue was for my 9 year old they had no older activities on while we was out there due to not enough teenagers, and everything else was for age 16 and over except he could join in with the football. So unfortunately he was bored a lot of the week wanting things to do. Seemed if you was between 7-16 there was nothing to do. I would have thought some activities would have been done for a smaller group as we did speak to and see quite a few 9-11 year old children. The hotel also had 3 conferences going on while we was out there for a week so probably contributed to not as many tourists, and felt a bit lacking in staff aswell ie having to wait for drinks rather then being able to help yourself at dinner meant a lot of the time we had eaten most our dinner before we got a drink. It’s a shame as has a lot of potential to be a nice little hotel but it’s not somewhere I would go back again without guarantees that there is activities for all kids ages.

“DISAPPOINTED Definitely not 5 star!!”

The hotel was acerage. I definitely wouldnt say it was 5 star! Rooms are dated. The quilt/blanket barely fitted the bed which was annoying. The food was NEVER hot, luke warm was the way it was no matter what time you went. The main restaurant wasn't that busy but there was no noodles or fresh veg ready to go with the prawns. I asked the chef could he get more and his reply was...I'll make more noodles in 5 minutes and then I'll make the vegetables! For a 5 star hotel, this was unacceptable! I dont often eat meat and there's very little 'veggi' choice unless you want to eat salads every night or soggy veg in a tomato based sauce! FLIES.....omg where do I begin with the flies!? Flies are on the buffet food, on the tables, cover you when you're at the pool...FLIES ARE EVERYWHERE! People including us were constantly swiping our hands whilst sunbathing, eating etc There's absolutely no getting away from them! There was lots of damaged sun umbrellas by the pool, the loungers needed a good scrub, some were so dirty. The staff were friendly and the rooms and surrounding areas were kept nice. There was 2 huge conferences on while we stayed at the hotel. Loads more people other than holiday makers. Lots of drunk loud 'businessmen' in the evening smoking in the bar areas......not pleasent. Been to lots of 5 star hotels, this hotel did not meet expectations unfortunately and we wont be back.
