Just back from a 10 day holiday at the Alaaddin Beach Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Location is fantastic, right on the beach, nearby shops, restaurants, cable car, etc. Bar & restaurant staff are lovely and very helpful. Food & drinks available all day whether you are on the beach or poolside. Turkish bath & massage available which we can highly recommend - a very affordable and highly pampering experience. Rooms were adequately sized and comfortable and the maids did a fantastic job. Just note there are no irons available! Evening buffet food was typically Turkish but the daytime a la carte menu had a good selection but service a little slow at times. While we were there this adult only hotel was mainly frequented by Northern Europeans, Russians and Turkish. We think we were the only English there - not a problem for us but a few more English speaking holidaymakers would have been nice. Alanya is worth exploring and is well placed for further afield day trips.

“Not what you expect.”

Don’t be fooled by the photos they are old one re used as the hotel is nothing like shown. Where to start. On arrival if you have standard room they will immediately offer update to a sea view room at €10 a day. We said no we will stay with what’s booked. The hotel is not as clean as you would expect. Tiny balcony had loads of dirty cups and ash on the ledge. Rooms mopped everyday, towels every two days. On arrival there was soap/small shampoo and conditioner suppled and basic tea and coffee but never replenished. So bring your own soap and hair wash. Tea and coffee was replaced about. 5 times in our 10 day visit Don’t forget this is a Muslim country so breakfast is as much salad and breads as you like. However eggs everyday cooked in a variety of ways. Gets samey after a few days. Dinner is decent and bbq grill most days. But again loads of salads the food is okay and just warm and even cold. If you love cats you will be fine as they are everywhere in the dining area on the beach. Cats are respected in Turkey and are free to go where they like. Hotel is adults only but the beach in front is not. The sunbeds are not reserved for the hotel and anyone can use them. So children will be in the beach. There are plenty of cigarette butts around the beds and the beach is very fine gravel mixed with sand. Don’t forget no drinks at dinner you have to buy from the bar including water so easy run up a bill at the end. They also say no taking your own food and drink to the beach. However with loads of families coming in bringing their own we did also. Alanya is great and I have now more brothers then I knew I had as they will get you into their shops to buy copies of any designer bag shoes and clothes you would want. The locals prefer euros but never agree a price. Go to walk out and then you may get a good bargain. Beware of quality as some shops are better than others. Great marina with the pirate ships along with a cable car to the castle is worth a look at and about 15 min walk. Staff don’t speak unless you spend loads of money at the bar then they are your best friend. Just be mindful this is a honest review and has some good points but you will see for yourself. Was i disappointed. I would say ish! Ish! But Alanya is lovely. Oh! The are no rules on zebra crossing traffic don’t stop. And you will see mopeds riding on the footpaths as there appears to be no rules. Enjoy your holiday.
