Perfect hotel for big family, or company of friends. The territory really big, have a several places for lunch and dinner, at evening you can enjoy your evening at bar for dance and every day show. The personal was so nice and acting cute with kids. Big swimming swimming pools for kids and adults. The beach is 1st with amazing view , also very clean and lovely ! We have enjoyed our time. “A lovely hotel but cleaning of rooms needs to improve”

I stayed here for a week in mid May 2024. Overall, it was a very positive experience. Positives - I was kindly upgraded on arrival to a sea-view room, which was lovely (430). Large and a stunning view. Beds and pillows are comfortable. - Very helpful reception staff, always helped with any issues or info quickly and efficiently. The lobby, lobby bar, and outside area are stunning. The bar staff is good and make great cocktails and mocktails. Waiting staff tried so hard to please. - Grounds and pools are gorgeous and lush. Pools and pool areas were always clean. - Good sunbeds and lots of them - Guys on rollerblades work super hard bringing round drinks etc - Animation team work hard to engage people - Comfy beds and I found the aircon fine, and I like a cold room, maybe I got lucky. - The bathroom is a good size with a powerful shower. - Patisserie is incredible! - Plenty of choice of food, fresh and tasty - Freshly made omelettes and pancakes at breakfast were great if you could get them. It was very hit and miss though. - Food is mainly Turkish, as it should be, don't come to Turkey and expect English food. The location is amazing on the beach, and the private beach was lovely. - Also near the taxi boat pier which was really handy. - Indoor pool was lovely. - Beautifully lit up at night. - Loads of gorgeous, clean, healthy and friendly cats around. - Snack bar great but a bit hit and miss Not quite so positive - Cleaning of the rooms was poor and often missed. The reception desk sorted it out if you asked, but you shouldn't have to keep asking! It did spoil the experience. You couldn't just come and chill in the room or nap in the afternoon, as you never knew when they were coming. There just weren't enough cleaning staff employed to do the job. This was the biggest letdown. - The food is good quality, but it is usually not very hot. This is the main issue. Cold eggs in the mornings were a letdown. They need to find a solution to this. - The drinks situation at dinner could be improved, not enough bar staff - The last thing, and it won't be an issue for everyone, it's a personal choice, but I found it too noisy for me. Loud music was sometimes ridiculous. A ghastly pool party at 2pm in the afternoon. The jacuzzi felt gritty and not very clean Would I come back? Yes, but probably only if I was guaranteed the same room and probably out of season when it's quieter.

Positive points- location good, lovely scenery of the mountains. The beach is nearby and there are restaurants you can eat at. Room was clean and spacious. Negative- food is poor, we had to eat out most nights. Door rooms are heavy and not soft close so it meant that we got woken regularly at night/morning from people slamming the doors. Cleaners are very loud in the morning, non stop chat outside our room. Icecream/bar has limited hours during the day. Music is so loud during the day and the bar/DJ is located by the kids pool. It did not feel relaxing. Limited air con in the restaurant area. We found this hotel very average and would not go again.

Apologies in advance for the long review but it is honest and fair and for ease I will break it down into sections: The good: Hotel - is set in gorgeous grounds, low rise buildings, max. 3 stories with lifts, turreted and with great character. The grounds are kept spotless and the pools (5 in total incl. kids) are regularly checked for PH levels etc and cleaned throughout the day. The main entrance and lobby is welcoming and modern, although the bar is too small and could do with a redesign. There is a ‘blue’ room if you want quiet with ample seating and the terraces outside are again clean and well maintained. The beds were amazingly comfortable, with a choice of pillows to suit most. Drinks/snacks are offered around the pool all day and orders taken by rollerblading staff, fun to watch and boy do they move fast. Otag Snack Bar is very handy for the pools and serves a variety of dishes (that are far superior to the restaurant – see below) as well as waffles and ice-cream which is delicious. Staff are friendly and welcoming, some speak excellent English, others not so – but hey my Turkish is very minimal – but they are always polite and try to help where possible. The bad: Rooms - The AC is useless. There is a split system – 1 unit covers several rooms/blocks – and are in underground plant rooms. Most of the accommodation in the blocks are split level and the AC unit is in the lowest part of the room, inset in an arched wall and the outlet is approx. 1m long x 6 inches wide. As cool air falls this doesn’t in any way cool the room. Coming from the outside with temps of between 32 – 39 the room rarely if ever got below 23/24 degrees which just isn’t good enough. Sleeping was almost impossible until the early hours when ambient temperatures give some respite from the heat. The system needs a complete overhaul. Just for info this was a regular complaint we heard from those we spoke to. Food - If you are going all inclusive you will be disappointed. The food was mediocre at best. There are plenty of salads and accompaniments, dressings, tzatziki in various guises but they are left out, rarely replenished or redressed and unless you are first to the buffet look unappetising, insipid and frankly repugnant. The remainder of the hot food is very hit and miss –the serving tureens are often left with lids open or no lids as they are broken so the food is cold. Chips are served with every meal, including breakfast. For those who like omelettes be prepared to wait (unless you go late for breakfast) as there is only a single pan in use. The toaster takes at least 5-10 minutes to toast. During our stay there were only 2 occasions when potatoes, other than chips, were on the menu but by the time we got to tea they were ‘finished’. Everything was either in a sauce or overcooked. The fish was horrendous, although they did have fresh prawns however they smelt awful and were continuously covered in flies. On 2 nights they had BBQ foods outside, Gyros, Kebab Meat and Roast Lamb, but they ran out very quickly. There is certainly not enough for everyone to have some, so if you aren’t first in you may as well forget getting any. The Pide bread was delicious as were the grilled meats in the smaller (where the sweets are) section. One of the main reasons for booking this hotel was because there were 3 restaurants advertised, Oriental, Brasserie and Mexican. The first 2 were non existent and are only operated during the ‘winter’ months!! The Mexican is abysmal – not only do you have to decide what food you want before you go (you have to book in advance and that can be up to a week ahead) but if they can’t supply your choice, they just change to whatever they feel – we didn’t get our complete selection – for anyone with allergies this could be very dangerous. The Octopus was great but that was about it. We were told no drinks other than water or wine were available in the Mexican, however a few days later we observed the waiters going to the main bar for cocktails, beer etc – I wonder if something had been said. The Physkos bar is far too small, if you aren’t there by 7.30 forget getting a seat/table there is no room. The beach is shale, we had our dive shoes so it wasn’t a problem but was very uncomfortable without (at least for us). There are no services at the beach only a water cooler for water if you want anything else you have to return to the hotel. It is only a short distance but maybe consideration should be given to providing other drinks and maybe some food stuffs. The restaurants bordering the beach all provide food and will serve you on the beach however this is chargeable. If you have booked AI at the hotel they could look at the option to liaise with the Tiki Bar and get them to provide food for guests on the Marti Beach and then charge back to the hotel, simple and effective. Sunbeds – oh yeah the typical ‘towel on the bed’ behaviour. This starts at around 0600hrs and we also observed, when returning to the room after a night out, towel reserved beds at midnight! There are signs saying if not used for an hour they will be removed but that doesn’t happen. It is frustrating when you see towels on beds all day, no-one uses them and other guests struggling to find somewhere. This policy needs to be enforced. Ichmeler itself is lovely, quieter than Marmaris which is just around the bay, and feels more like what I was looking forward to when visiting Turkey. There are some lovely restaurants, bars and shops. Restaurants in the main town tend to be cheaper than those on the front but we ate in both and the food was wonderful. In conclusion I can honestly say that although this was our first time in Turkey, thanks to the people we met who assured us that the food and AC were not typical or representative and well below standard it has not put us off and we will revisit – albeit to another part of the country. That said if the Marti can show a marked improvement in its facilities, then I would be happy to revisit, but a lot work needs to be done before that happens.
