Booked the Pirat due to it being near the harbour and it didn’t disappoint. Booked the Pirat due to it being near the harbour and it didn’t disappoint. Upgraded to a sea view on arrival, as weren’t able to book this through our tour operator - so a bit of a shame we had to pay for this on arrival! Staff are all very friendly, polite and keep the hotel in an excellent condition. Rooms are nice, with aircon (ours broke one day and was immediately fixed) - of note, there are no room safes, no tea and coffee making facilities and limited plug sockets - but this did not spoil things for us! The pools are really lovely, and I went swimming everyday, at least once if not more - unheard of for me! Sunbeds are a bit packed in, but there were enough to go around, you just have to move them about a bit. Of note - TAKE A POOL TOWEL - these are not provided. Views from the hotel are lovely. Bit of a hike up the hill to the main drag and shops, but plenty of restaurants also available lower down, if you don’t want the walk, but it’s all downhill on the way back from a night out, which is a bonus! We purposely chose this hotel to prevent having to walk uphill on the way home, and glad we did! I agree, there is noise from the mosque - helped us know what time it was! And also from some of the surrounding bars/clubs - but didn’t disturb us at all! Breakfast is as described, mainly Turkish, but you can get omelettes and fried eggs cooked for you on request - which were great, plus the fresh melon! Shame that the fresh orange juice incurs a cost, but water, tea and coffee suited us fine! Would definitely return! Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

“Wonderful stay at Hotel Pirat!”

First time visiting Kalkan, so glad we stayed at this gem that is the Hotel Pirat! The hotel rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. First time visiting Kalkan, so glad we stayed at this gem that is the Hotel Pirat! The hotel rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Couldn't fault breakfast, lots of options and very tasty, big shout out to Ozzy and the staff, lovely chats each morning. Hava at reception was lovely and so helpful. Also massive shout out to Reggae, George and Ahmed at the pool bar who kept us entertained the whole holiday! Hotel is in a great location, central to the town, restaurants and beach clubs. We did eat in the hotel a couple of times and it was lovely and great value for money! Would definitely return :)

“Excellent Location”

It was our first visit to Kalkan and we chose the Hotel Pirat because of its proximity to the harbour and old town, as well as the positive TA reviews, and we weren’t disappointed. The first thing you notice when you arrive in Kalkan is how hilly it is, so the location of the Pirat is just perfect as you’re in walking distance to all the bars and restaurants without the need to get taxis, like many others, to get back up the hill. The hotel consists of two parts - the original building housing the reception and the more modern complex across the road which houses everything else. We were in the modern block in a room tucked around the back but nevertheless with views over the bay. The rooms are simply furnished and come equipped with a TV, fridge and very good air conditioning, however the Wi-Fi connection was very poor. There is no lift beyond the first floor which is something to consider if you have mobility issues. We found all the staff really friendly and helpful and particularly enjoyed seeing them letting their hair down at the pool bar during the excellent live music on Monday evenings. We only had breakfast at the hotel, which was typically Turkish, consisting of salads, cheese, bread and fruit, along with rotating hot items, with freshly cooked omelettes and fried eggs made to order. The hotel offers an extensive fixed price dinner menu which we didn’t try but seemed good value. The pool areas are very nice, with views over the harbour and bay, and the pool bar is very good too. We didn’t have a problem getting sun beds but can imagine this being a problem when the hotel is very busy. There is loud noise from some late bars above the hotel and there is also the call to prayer from the nearby mosque, but we found this quite atmospheric once we got used to it! I think it is testament to the hotel that many of the guests that we met were returning customers. All in all I can thoroughly recommend the Hotel Pirat and would definitely choose to stay there again if visiting Kalkan.

“Room pictures can be misleading .”

Got off to a bad start as the room with a sea view was tiny and I mean tiny and dated with a bathroom that lacked storage and size !!!The staff tried to show us other rooms to their credit but they were very noisy. Got off to a bad start as the room with a sea view was tiny and I mean tiny and dated with a bathroom that lacked storage and size !!!The staff tried to show us other rooms to their credit but they were very noisy. The following day we paid a discounted £30O to move to the block opposite the pool area. This was bigger and lovely . They don’t advertise these rooms on other sites such as jet 2 etc as they can sell them easily . So be aware I ignored the comments about the noise of the mosque which is next door but it was the dogs howling all night that got to me . They are friendly and don’t bother you when you are out but they are loud when you are sleeping so bear this in mind . The hotel has a great location by the harbour with friendly staff who work tirelessly . We were b n b but in 10 days ate only twice there . It was Turkish breakfasts and you can get omelettes on request but I wished the chef had not used his fingers to add cheese etc to the pan when cooking for obvious reasons . Overall you get what you pay for and we did have a good time as did many others who loved it . Now that we ate out at other places I would choose The Oasis hotel up the hill which has a lovely restaurant. However people come back here time and again and we all see things different but the best thing about Kalkan is the fab food eateries and lovely people .
