Stayed at the mendos Garden Hotel from the 2nd -12 th of September so have just got back and wanted to say that we had a great time,everything was there that we needed it was B and B so most our meals were taken out and about we also ate in the hotel ,want to thank the staff who work long days and very accommodating,even down to the day I ripped a 200 lira note and lil in reception sellotaped it back together for me,thankyou for the lovely stay.

After staying at the Gunes twice a year for many years solo and with friends I fancied a change and I had seen this hotel behind the gunes. Was pleasantly surprised more modern and more space than the gunes for a start . I had a 2 nd floor room which I struggled with having arthritis but I coped in a massive heat wave . My friend had never been before and we ate in hotel I think k 4 out of seven nights as too hot to go into town and it was a Turkish hol so was extra busy which did spoil things a bit . I’m looking to come back next year but solo but it looks like it may be too pricey so I’ll see . Pool area great and staff esp lily were very nice …fingers crossed it is diff for Solo to get a good price ? All in all would highly recommend

Mendos Garden Exclusive is anything but. With a list of rules that puts a school to shame, this hotel can be so much more than it provides. On arrival the reception wasn’t attended to so we had to go to the bar to ask and then the barman checked us in. Poor start. Barman was as helpful as can be with broken English and my broken Turkish. Our rooms were located on the second floor , not a big deal but there’s no lift , so people with mobility issues or elderly may find it an issue. Rooms are adequate and quite spacious for a 2 week break with a decent sized bathroom with walk in shower that has rain head shower head that leaked more than a badly installed pipe. The bathroom amenities are suffice with Mirror above a chipped basin with a telephone next to toilet. There was hairdryer a socket on the wall to do your hair if you’re lucky have any unlike me. There is a fridge that didn’t work that took 2 days to get one that worked. You have to pay £3 per day for the privilege mind you but essential when you pay extortionate prices at the bar for bottle of water or beer unlike the supermarket that is a 2-3 minute walk from the front door. It’s well worth paying the fridge rental price when you can see how much you can save . I prefer to spend my money on things that I’m not getting ripped off from.

The hotel in itself has been upgraded nicely in places, some rooms are still not renovated in the lower floors but the room I stayed in on the first floor was pleasant. The bathroom/bedroom was nice but was starting to show signs of wear and tear. The waterfall showerhead was broken so used the normal showerhead instead, the toilet seat was loose and broken and doors and drawers hanging a little on the furniture (room 2210). The breakfast was local cuisine (Turkish), our friends wanted an English breakfast one morning and this would have been additional 575tl = £13 (this was 290tl = £6.50 only a 5 minute walk away on the waterfront in several different restaurants on the beachfront) so we went out for breakfast instead some days. Prices rose in the hotel on all items by 40% which was disappointing as felt they could have waited until the end of the season to make changes, so again went 100m to the beach to eat for lunch etc as was half the cost, so felt they had done themselves a disservice and caused ill feeling with the guests staying there. Apparently we had been advised the prices have gone up over the past few years which is understandable with inflation, but not sure double what you can get 2 minutes walk over the road to the beach is justifiable or sensible. There are not enough sunbeds for the hotel guests so most days there were some sunbed wars occurring. The hotel would remove the towels if they were left unattended for any time, which caused issues for some, and a few harsh words being said. There is ample room for more beds to be bought and placed around the pool so perhaps this would be advisable for the future. The gardens where in a poor state and have been left to overgrow which again seemed a shame. The pool area was lovely and well maintained but anywhere else around the outside of the hotel was inaccessible and overgrown. Everything had to be added to your room if you bought items of a morning from the pool bar as it seemed the barman who came in at 1pm was the only one able to process cash, which was frustrating for me and could be frustrating for some other people if they prefer to pay upfront. Language was an issue so needed to use a translator app to communicate needs or wishes with the hotel staff mostly. A few of the team where able to speak English but they were not always around so advisable to prepare. Overall its a nice hotel the 3 star rating is correct, there were so many obvious things there could be improvements made with. Suggestions - Do your gardens they could be beautiful!!!! maintain the rooms a little better, buy more sunbeds for the poolside to avoid a war. Learn how to make coffee an Americano is not a latte!! I love my morning coffee but had a battle every day to just get a plain coffee. I asked for an Americano and was given a Latte, then a cappuccino then a chai tea, so again went over the road to the beachfront to the coffee shops there to avoid any hassle (I basically gave up). Some really excellent coffee shops to hand on the beach just seconds away. People will pay a little extra for service with a smile, your chef did not look to be a happy man in his work, his glass was clearly empty so maybe don't have him on show cooking the meals around the poolside. Check your pricing against the local amenities and price accordingly, if you want to charge double then make sure the quality exceeds what you are offering over other services locally. Unfortunately, quality of the food is far better elsewhere for half the cost so you are losing custom from potential lunch/evening sales as a result. Overall the experience was good/ok but could have been amazing. You have all the facilities to have an outstanding hotel with a little bit of work. Would I stay again.....Maybe?!? not convinced at the moment.
