We booked our holiday at Kadikale Resort and Spa last November, and we were really excited for a relaxing getaway. Everything went smoothly, from check-in to the airport transfer—no issues at all. However, when we arrived at the resort, we were told that it was fully booked, and the three sea-view single rooms we had reserved weren’t available. Instead, we were offered one single room and a family room for the other two members of our group. We checked out the rooms but declined, as we had paid for three separate sea-view rooms. After speaking with the manager several times that evening, we agreed to stay in a king suite for two nights as a temporary solution, although it wasn’t ideal. The next morning, we met with a manager in person and discussed our concerns. After a good conversation, we reached a mutually satisfying arrangement. (Tip: Talk to the staff if something isn’t right—they’re very helpful and willing to work things out.) Now, onto the rest of the stay. The hotel is what you make of it. Keep in mind that a 5-star rating in Turkey may not exactly match what you’d expect elsewhere, but that’s part of the experience. The food does get a bit repetitive for lunch and dinner, but if you pace yourself and explore all the dining options, there’s plenty of variety. There’s a beach bar, afternoon pastries, and ice cream—make sure to ask about all the timings! We mixed it up by going to the beach bar in the afternoon and dining in the main area at night. The outside seating to the far end is fantastic, especially with the freshly cooked turkey and fish at dinner. Should you also be able to get the A La Carte option (When in Season) do book the day before at guest relations Italian was amazing. The resort itself is large, with plenty to do. The gym is decent, though it could use some upgrades (pro tip: set the treadmill at an incline of 3 and a speed of 10 for a good workout as it stops the judder). The multiple pools, beachfront, and cabanas add to the experience, and the animation team keeps the energy high throughout the day—especially around the top pool. A special shout-out to the bar staff and bellboy at the front of the house! They were all amazing, with some truly exceptional individuals who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The bellboy was prompt and friendly, helping us with our luggage and ensuring we settled into our rooms comfortably on numerous occasions and even running round to our 3 separate rooms to help us sort out our safes. It’s small touches like this that really make a difference in how you feel during your stay. The cabanas are an absolute must! There are only 10, and they’re right on the seafront. The attendant is incredibly attentive, checking on you every 30–40 minutes starting from 9 a.m.—it’s pure luxury. Then there’s Ibrahim’s Spa—wow! We treated ourselves to the VIP special, which was well worth it. While a basic Turkish bath is included in your stay, the extra treatments are heavenly, and we visited the spa twice. Definitely take the time to chat with the spa team or Ibrahim who also walks around the complex to see what’s on offer. We also took a day trip on the Thomas boat, which was a highlight of the trip. It’s a fantastic day out at sea, with stops for swimming and jumping from the side or going in gracefully down the steps and a great party-like atmosphere throughout the whole trip. This also included lunch that was delicious, and while drinks are extra, they’re very affordable. Overall, Kadikale Resort and Spa is what you make of it. Embrace the local charm, try the different activities, and don’t hesitate to communicate with the staff if anything is amiss—they’re there to help. We would definitely return! Mr Carl and the Ladies

Hotel: Pleasant grounds to walk around and there is the main restaurant, beach bar and a pool bar. There is a gym with minimal equipment in, which does require some care and attention too, as this could potentially become a safety concern. Pools and surrounding areas where clean and tidy. There is a small beach area and a pier with ample of sun loungers. They are not short of space to worship the sun. I would not suggest this is suitable for individuals with mobility issues/disabled as there are a lot of stairs. Be mindful if you are travelling late to eat before arrival, as there is nothing to eat on arrival. There was supper which hotel guests had already eaten and there was nothing set aside for late travellers. Plenty of areas throughout the hotel to use the WIFI. Rooms are average and simple, with a poor air con system. Cleaners are attentive and welcoming in a morning, ensured there is plenty of bottled water in your room and the room was tidy, not easy with 3 girls. Dresses and shoes everywhere! All inclusive drinks were average and a set menu. If you wanted a proper cocktail it was at a charge or you rent a cabana for approx 25-30 euros per person for the day. The cabana has a waiter who serves you during your renting period. Staff: The entertainment staff were fun and enjoyed their jobs, As we are all aware it is difficult to get tourists involved in the pool activities but they didn't give up and where always encouraging and upbeat. The waiters/waitresses work extremely hard during their shifts and are polite. If you play bingo it is 8 euro for the bingo card per person. The entertainment staff are improving their entertainment and are keen to hear new ideas, so give them a chance. Food: Plain and simple. The food was luke warm and containers were left open. There was not much choice. The food looked appetising but it lacked flavour. I did not see much options for children, but this could of been easily overlooked, as I did not travel with any children. Local area: Nothing to do locally. The hotel does provide a bus to Turgutreis and Bodrum Town Centre at an extra charge of 10 euros per person. Turgutreis is about an hour walk from the hotel along the sea front. It doesn't appear much but nothing beats a sea walk. There is not much to do in these areas unless you just want to shop. Bodrum castle is on the marina, but we did not have chance to explore. Unfortunately, I can't say this was a cheap cheerful holiday but it was reasonable. Recommendations to consider: * Late night travellers may be hungry and to provide a small meal after check in. * Small toiletries * Are the extra charges throughout the hotel necessary? * Ask guests if they are able to carry their bags up the multitude of stairs and don't presume because they are young, they can.

Reading some of the recent reviews , I have to by and large agree. This at the moment is not even close to a 5* hotel, it is 3* at best. The location is beautiful in the bay, but it is a couple of miles from any other facilities. The rooms are quite steeply terraced so there are quite a few steps or steep slopes, depending where you are accommodated. The room we got was supposed to be a “ sea view upgrade,” which we paid for in advance. By definition it has a sea view, and it was very clean and remained so, thanks to the marvellous cleaning lady. It was however on the ground floor, and was dark and not a pleasant place to relax in. The outside space was a tiny porch, which left us permanently on view to passing guests going to their rooms. It was also fairly noisy from people walking past at all times of night, and from people above us. Also, as we were on the far edge of the resort, we had the noise of the next door resorts entertainment every night booming out till late. When we arrived, the desk staff were fairly abrupt and other than giving us a room key told us nothing. We got to our room and the keycard didn’t work. 5 times I had to go back to the desk to remedy this. At one point a maintenance guy turned up, changed the battery in the door, still didn’t sort it and said “ change rooms”. When I got back to the front desk, I was told our door was fixed!! After protesting that it wasn’t,it took 2 more trips before another member of staff sorted the fault. Not a single word of apology was offered…. The a la carte restaurants were both closed by the time of our holiday. This meant eating in the main area. I won’t call it restaurant because it was more like a works canteen. The food was dull, bland and repetitive, often cold and any nice food selection quickly ran out. There is a BBQ area at the back of the main facility, but the food choice on the there was pretty much turkey, fish and veg every night. In fact turkey was a predominant offering every night!! You didn’t starve but I’m glad we were only there for 7 nights! The other option during the day was the snack bar. This was by far the best place to eat. The staff there were friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was totally different. The food wasn’t that much better but it was freshly cooked and served with a smile. We rented a private cabana for 4 days which made the whole experience much better. No fighting for sunbeds and friendly staff bringing drinks. The staff on the whole were ok , but I have to say the front desk staff were at best abrupt and at worst rude, and definitely unhelpful. It’s a shame because this area is beautiful, but I definitely would not recommend, there are far better places who are genuinely 5* . This was Butlins by the med……
