On 23 January 2020, the new Balearic Law against Tourism Excesses entered into force, which prohibits all-inclusive deals with unlimited alcoholic beverages. Only a maximum of three alcoholic beverages per guest will be served during lunch and/or dinner.
We would also like to inform you of the following restrictions included in the law:
Practices which may endanger the life, health and physical integrity of guests are strictly prohibited at hotels, apartments and holiday properties. These practices include climbing from one balcony or window to another and jumping from inappropriate places such as balconies into swimming pools (a practice widely known as ';balconing';). Guests breaking the law will be immediately banished from the property and may be fined, states the law and the corresponding municipal regulations. The hotel/apartment manager or property agent must order said guests to leave immediately, which may require assistance from the security forces.
Failure to comply with the prohibition of practices which may endanger the life, health and physical integrity of guests will be considered a serious offence. In the Balearic Islands, serious offences are subject to a fine between 6,001 and 60,000 euros.

The stay reminded me that yes there is a place on earth where time stands still and that is at Residence Sultana. Mohamed ensured I had a local delicacy for every meal I was at the hotel be it breakfast, lunch or dinner or ......an afternoon snack .

The Residence Sultana was the perfect place to spend a week, especially if you need rest and relaxation! The week was perfect, filled with early morning swims and afternoons on the beach. Mohammad the owner was wonderful and attentive to everything we needed. The food was great and every night they prepared us something new, fresh and delicious. The grounds were beautiful as well, wonderfully maintained with plenty of quiet places to sit and read or enjoy the beautiful ocean breeze. I can’t wait for our next visit.

Beautifully and sympathetically designed former private residence set amongst tranquil, verdant and flower filled gardens makes this the perfect spot to escape and relax into. Complete peace and quiet, excellent food (much from the gardens) and fine hosts made this a really exceptional place. Wander through the gardens eating figs off the trees, swim, lounge and gaze at the stars, time slows down and London feels far away. However, if you like or are wanting the huge hotels/mass tourism of Djerba this is not it, this is for the people who are in search of the perfect retreat. This is it. There is an array of individually decorated rooms all with patio/veranders, dotted around the walled property are different seating areas for every time of day, beautifully decorated with local textiles and upstairs, first floor viewing and relaxing patios to take in the ever changing light across the sea. Also a Hammam - too hot when I was there but it looked very tempting. Trips out can be arranged if you can peel yourself away and the local town is 10 mins away for shopping and wandering.

We had our agent book a room but when we showed up they obviously weren't ready. We were shown a duplex room that looked quite nice but there was construction taking place everywhere. Also, there is no beach, it's covered in seaweed, although you can access the waster by going out on a rickety pier. The property has potential but current conditions make the price unreasonable. We chose to stay elsewhere.
