In summary, we’re just back from an excellent 10 night stay at the Royal Kenz and it is one of those rare places you’re genuinely sad to be leaving. The staff at this hotel are excellent and make a real effort to get to know you. As a result we met many holidaymakers who have returned multiple times; one couple has been coming here for 20 years. The greetings these guests received from staff was touching to see. We would definitely return to the Royal Kenz. … In detail: Room 170 was spacious, had nice decor, and featured big comfortable beds. Cleaned to a high standard each day. Two bottles of water provided on arrival and 1.5l bottles readily available at the bar and restaurant. A few of the bathroom tiles were cracked but nothing dangerous. Lunch: we thoroughly enjoyed the snack bar and ate there every day, picking items off the menu to be cooked on demand. The table service made a real refreshing change from the usual All Inclusive buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We didn’t bother with the buffet once for lunch. Dinner: the main restaurant does themed evenings which I often dread as I’m a bit of a fussy eater but I needn’t have worried here; every evening there was plenty of variety (not entirely themed) and something suitable and enjoyable to eat was found each night. In particular we enjoyed the French theme, Spanish, Latin and Gala. A lot of effort is put into decorating the restaurant per the evenings theme, and on some evenings there was even live music. Drink: Service provided is excellent from both those behind the bar and those doing waiter service. Bar has a good selection of spirits and cocktails. Only criticism is that soft drinks are all out of bottles and therefore not cold. Not such an issue in September/October but may feel a bit unsatisfying in the peaks of July/August. The Beach bar was a nice facility. Grounds are superbly kept. Communal areas were well kept and rigorously cleaned many times a day. Sun beds were never an issue at any time of the day. Sometimes, when we were later down, we had to ask the pool lifeguards who would get more beds out of storage and place them where you wanted. Entertainment: the local animation team are fantastic and make an effort to engage with everyone (but not overbearing). They put a great deal of effort in during the day and for evening entertainment and the result is some of the best hotel entertainment we’ve had in years. General Maintenance: I would actually say this hotel's standard of maintenance is quite high having been to many comparable hotels across Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt and Turkey. If you go looking for issues then you will find them and if you want them to tarnish the experience then you will only spoil your own holiday. General tips: The port is around a 40 minute leisurely stroll, or just 8 dinars in a taxi. Some taxi drivers were aggressive, hold firm on price or tell them no; someone else will take you and be glad of the money. They need to learn that their attitude problems are off putting. If you go to a bar/restaurant and they don’t have a menu to show you pricing then get up and leave. You will be ripped off, particularly in the port. One bar is “Café Jasmin” who have been conning tourists with this tactic for years. Google them, see for yourself and avoid. ATMs have a surcharge of 10%. I advise you to take cash and change small amounts, say £20, at a time. Enjoy your holiday at the Kenz!

“Autumn holiday”

Lovely hotel and very clean. Staff worked very hard to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves. The entertainment team were brilliant and made a lot of people’s stay even better! Food was great and catered for all tastes. Facilities were fantastic too with a good spa and beach

First of all I would like to say this isn't our first time visiting Royal Kenz, one of our party has been here a dozen times. The good points. Our room though dated was clean, we always got clean towels and new bedding. Room on 3rd floor spacious double bed, and small separate living area. The Staff are amazing 90% couldn't do enough for you, even laying about the pool staff would ask if you needed a drink. The entertainment team are fantastic they really do a great job throughout the day and night. Hassen in the snack bar was a excellent chap, staff in lobby bar great, big shout out to the staff in restaurant assisting a member of our group with seating and stairs. Bad points wish the 2 barmen at the pool bar smiled more, didn't really interact and just gave your drinks without a smile, crabbit would suit a funeral directors better. Watched the girl making the panenies at pool bar, constantly fighting against flys , no way was I eating anything from there. The foods ok, recycled a bit, though much to choose from would have liked food that's under lights to be hotter. At weekends they have Tunsian and Algerian folk in hotel. Every meal time is chaos, I've never seen people load plates like they do, and not just one plate. Food laying on tables piled high not eaten , 4 star hotels wouldn't allow this, would I come back again, most likely as its cheap hoilday and staff are great.
