I recently spent 20 days at the Royal Jinene with my daughter, mostly just relaxing and enjoying some time with my mom, who was visiting us from the UK. Overall, it was a great stay, with lots of positives that made it feel like a home away from home. One of the biggest improvements since my last stay in July was the food. During peak season, it’s pretty common for hotels in Tunisia to cut back on food quality, but that wasn’t the case here. Even with my picky eating habits due to ARFID, I could always find something I liked. The only downside was that it did get a little repetitive after a while, but the hotel is close to some fantastic and affordable restaurants. Big Ben, Sun Street, and a cozy Korean spot called Little Seoul in Khezema, run by a wonderful Korean family. These places gave us a nice change from the hotel food and added some variety to our meals. The staff really made our stay special. Everyone, from the restaurant waiters and receptionists to the housekeepers and security team, was super friendly and helpful. Rami (one of the barmen), in particular, was a standout—he even helped my daughter with her Arabic homework, which was brilliant! Their warmth made the whole experience feel a lot more personal and welcoming. Our room was always spotless, thanks to the amazing housekeeping staff. She kept our room clean and comfortable, which is a difficult task in itself given mine and my daughter's inability to pack light! Even the common areas were impressively well-maintained. The hotel’s location was another bonus, with just a short taxi ride to both Sousse Medina and Port El Kantaoui, so getting around was easy. One thing I really appreciated was the safe atmosphere at the hotel. It’s a smaller place, and with the friendly staff around, I felt totally comfortable letting my daughter play in the little playground with her friends. It gave me peace of mind knowing she could enjoy herself safely. Of course, there were a few downsides. The restaurant could get a bit chaotic at times, especially with some guests being messy. But the staff was quick to clean up and handle any issues, even though it was sometimes a hassle with people taking reserved tables. Also, the indoor pool was closed for maintenance, which was a bit of a letdown since it would have been nice to have on the cooler days. The decor is a little dated, but I know that Tunisia is going through financial difficulties, so upgrades aren’t always easy. I did see some maintenance and improvements happening during our stay, so it’s clear they’re trying to make it better. The animation team was another area that could use some improvement—it was a bit inconsistent, with only one animator around most of the time, and a new one showed up for just a couple of days. They were friendly and welcoming though. I noticed, back in July, the team was quite small so I hope they can build a stronger team. All in all, the Royal Jinene is a cozy, friendly place that made us feel comfortable and welcome. The staff is what really sets it apart, along with the great location and safe environment. I’d definitely recommend it to families or anyone looking for a relaxed, friendly stay in Sousse. P.S. I'd have taken more photos but we were having too much fun!
