“Over the top”

Just checked out from an amazing 3-night stay at Koyao Island Resort. I studied islands near Phuket for weeks before the trip as I knew I wanted to get away. “Relaxing and beautiful but not the luxury I was expecting”

This resort is not cheap, but I think it was an amazing value, and WAY less expensive than some of the 5-star places I looked at. The resort is made up of 15 individual villas set off from a central area with reception, restaurant, bar and spa. Everything open-air and beautifully designed and executed. Walking the grounds at night was magical—so much attention put into the landscaping and lighting. Wildlife abounds, we saw dozens of Hornbills, and a three-foot monitor lizard strolled by as we were leaving the room this morning. The food is excellent—-also pricey for Thailand but perfectly prepared, and a wonderful daily breakfast buffet is included with the room. The staff were wonderful and attentive to everything. All the villas are steps from the sea, with a soft sand beach with incredible views of Pha Gna Bay. I’ll likely reserve a week for next year before I leave the country. I think this is the place where I want to get old..
