“Incredible staff, lovely hotel.”

Lovely hotel all around, with amazing staff. We spent two weeks here at the end of September/start of October. The staff throughout, be it reception, breakfast, dinner or room cleaners are all so lovely and helpful, despite the very long hours they seem to work. They are a credit to the hotel. Kendrik seems to be in charge of things at dinner and he & his team's attentive service every night was amazing. He only had one night off the entire time we were there. He ensured veggie options were made up for my wife and was always on hand for further drink orders. Some further names to specially mention and thank are Su, Bowling, Rainbow and Ta (apologies if I've mis-read any of these from the list I was given). I now feel a little bad for the other amazing staff members whose names I didn't manage to get though. We were all inclusive and this came with lovely cocktails, mocktails, coffee, smoothies (the lime one is a standout), milkshakes etc. There is a lot of choice. Breakfast has a lot of options too. The cocktails are delicious. The all inclusive allows you a full 3-course lunch and dinner if you're that hungry, as well as access to the buffet nights that start in October. Sadly we just missed the meat one as it was on the day we flew home, but the Thai one was full of so many choices. The location is peaceful (except for when the van advertising the boxing rolls along the road shouting TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! on boxing event days. That van is very amusing though). Swimming pools are lovely, and I do recommend the swim up style of room that we had. Room was lovely and clean, with daily water bottles provided, a fridge, an electronic safe and a really nice big bed. The air conditioning worked perfectly. My only *slight* complaint is that it's difficult to block out the light that pours into the room through the bathroom and its windowed door at night. We hung up a towel on the bathroom door to reduce it a little. Look out for the resident hotel birds. They are common mynas I believe and they're very cheeky and happy to come flying into your room for snacks! Thank you again to the wonderful staff, whose happy faces we are missing

“The good the bad and the broken”

The staff are beyond helpful always ready to help. The rooms are kept clean and have comfy beds. They lack storage space though. There was a large selection to choose from at breakfast and the service was good. The hotel is in a good position near the beach but there is a walk up to the main road to get to the other bars and restaurants. Okay if you don't have walking difficulties. You can get a tuk tuk for a 100 baht though. That brings me to getting around the hotel there are a lot of steps and no proper hand rails some of the stairs are very rickety and hard to negotiate if you are not very steady on your feet. The hotel needs money spending on it the sunbeds have seen better days and the chairs in the pool bar a dangerous with nails sticking out and collapsing. It is all very worn looking. When we arrived and going to our room a paving stone that my Husband stood on broke and he fell. There was an incident with the pool steps and someone was injured they were however replaced but this should have been done sooner. The pool bar had a bizarre way of ordering you ordered there and the staff went off to the Bhandari hotel to fill the order and produce the chit to sign. this all took a lot of time and to add to all this in the middle of happy hour they had a change of shift ! I felt the drinks for the standard of hotel were expensive further down the road at he Nangthong bay resort they were about 20% cheaper and bigger measure with quicker service. We booked this hotel as we wanted adults only there were occasions when guests from the other side came round with children and in one of the swim-up rooms there were a family with teenagers that filled the swim up pool with all manner of floats and balls etc. Having said all this we enjoyed our stay but just wish we had been more aware before booking about the walking situation. We came for our 50th wedding anniversary and my husband bought me flowers through the hotel. They were lovely but i tried to get a vase for them and was brough one that would only hold a couple of flowers. So they died very quickly. Khao Lak is lovely and having travelled all over Thailand before we are glad we chose it.
