Overall we had a great and relaxing time at the J.W. Marriott. We are a family of four (11y and 9y) and stayed in a Pool Access Family studio for 6 nights.  I would recommend it to my friends. Room Room was good, there are two sofa beds that they make up as kids beds. 11 year old was at the limit of it being too small. My wife's only gripe was that the air con kept reseting itself to the coldest setting. (First world problems I know). Also there are two shower heads (Pull the lever). Trap for young players. Definitely go a pool access and would recommend a 1xxx or 6xxx rool as this side looked alot better. Though 6xxx is facing the kids water area and would be noisier. Not our room but 1031-1028 looked great see picture.  Kids stuff The Kids slide and ball are great and we spent many hours on them. The wave pool is just too weird and the area could be better utilised. Bring inflatable rings and lie lows from home or buy them at the shop just outside for aud$20. 9 year old did Thai boxing and enjoyed that and also the kids club. Ping pong, air hockey and pool. I used the gym while he was doing Muay thai and it's your standard hotel gym. Treadmill, rower etc.  Fireshow was great fun for kids as was Marshmello roasting on the beach. Pools Pools were great and the ability to swim everywhere is fun. Once again get Pool access. The main pool and Infinity swim up bar was where we were ever afternoon. Gardens are amazing Weather  We went first week of July and rolled the dice with the weather, but only got 1 day of rain and we still swam. Disregard the weather forecast as it said rain everyday. I would roll the dice and come again at this time. Also the resort was half full 500-600 people and can imagine hard to do anything at peak. I.e. get pool chairs, book restaurant and activities. Edit: It's pouring now as I write this in the transfer bus to the airport. As I said Roll the dice. Beach Beach is a wavy beach. No snorkelling, forget that. One thing I loved about this hotel was that all the Beach toys were free to use. Body boards, surf boards, kayaks, etc. Also heaps of sand toys (buckets spades) for little kids. Food and drink We opted for the full board package and this included two lunches (1 course) and two dinners (3 courses).  So kids not included. You get a voucher that they stamp and then get the package menu. Same as the normal menu but there are options that cost extra. Mostly beef and some seafood dishes. So ended up spending about another Aud$50 for lunch and about $Aud100-150 for dinner with kids drinks and a couple of wines each. 3 courses and another entree was usually enough food for all four of us. See example Bill. There were three main dinner restaurants open Thai, Japanese and Italian. Japanese was our favourite. The Drift restaurant was closed for the season and would have made a good change for dinner. We figured out that we could go to dinner at the beach bar the last night so essentially four dinner options. We also found out we could order takeaway on the voucher instead of room service as one night the kids wanted to eat in the room  I would the Full board again. Drinks are about AUD$5 for soft drinks.  AUD$10 for fruit smoothies (Kids loved Mango and Coconut ones). Gin and Tonic and cocktails AUD$10 and wines AUD $15 a glass. (Two NZ sav blancs on offer) There is a happy how with limited selection and crappy wines. Bring wine from home or go to the shops just outside. The smaller shop has better wines in my opinion AUD$40 for a bottle of New Zealand Sav blanc. Beers were AUD$2 for Chang or Singha Breakfast buffet was good. As always have to cater for all nationalities but Bacon and Eggs and Banana pancakes on offer. Also Almond milk for my wife's coffee. Transfer/tours  We used the hotel transfer both ways, it's 1.5 hours to Phuket and the hotel van has WiFi. The only tour we did was the half day Khao Lak safari through the hotel. Elephant bathing, bamboo rafting, sea Turtle conservation and Waterfall. We all had a good time. The sea turtle place is a 10 min walk around(Turtles in concrete pools) nothing more. Staff All the staff were really nice but call out to Beer (Security Guard) who helped us find our sons lost thongs. Thankyou Beer Money What did I spend?   All up AUD$4600 for 6 nights or AUD$760 per night for accommodation, food, drink, tours, transfers.  That's the full board package in Family Pool access studio room with two 45 mins massages

Imagine closing your eyes and dreaming of beautiful East Asian food , white powdery sand all lit up with lots of candles and beautiful aromas , now open your eyes and you are in the JW Marriott , paradise on earth ! Designed like no other , stunning , winding stream like pools that flow past your room and the whole time you are there feels like you are in paradise . The food was amazing , the locals are just so accommodating and friendly and it’s the BEST place in a unique part of the world . Hammocks , cocktails,luscious greenery you really must go . We had a stunning room which couldn’t be faulted on any level , again a room which puts all the others in the shade for design and decor , totally Amazing

I have been staying at Marriott hotels all my life (67 years). The Khao Lak JW Marriott is exponentially, the best Marriott hotel I've ever stayed with. Their pool is over 7 kilometers long and meanders past all of the ground level floors. There is an unbelievably glorious stretch of super clean beach that seems to go on forever with no other structures or homes in site. It appears this hotel may border a national or regional park (but I'm not sure). Maybe Marriott purchased the property so they could leave it as nature intended. I hope so. The grounds are impeccably groomed and maintained. Our room was spacious and very well-appointed with so many fine details that truly made it special. We dined at a Sakura, their Japanese restaurant on site and another one that is close to the beach. Both restaurants were 5 star! But the very top top top feature of this hotel, without any doubt, is the unbelievable spread they put out for breakfast (included). I've never seen anything like it and I travel all over Europe frequently. There are no words to describe the quality and variety of food and the service is over the top! Wow JW Marriott, I just invested $20,000 in your stock and I will return to this part of Thailand for one reason—to stay in this world class hotel. Kudos!
