We’ve been coming here for a staggering 20 years now and it’s still a fantastic place to base yourself when visiting Thailand. Set in a quiet bay there are 40 rooms scattered throughout the verdant grounds. Each room has a bedroom area which leads through to a double sink and dressing area then through to a separate toilet, shower and bath tub. There’s also an outside sala or sitting area. There are a couple of pool villas with their own swimming pools but otherwise there is a massive swimming pool with a spa seemingly built into the hill side behind it. In front of the swimming pool is the sea. The restaurant area forms several levels to one end of the pool and along the sea front. For me the great appeal is the way the resort blends into the Krabi nature. It doesn’t feel false or out of place like most hotels do, its like having a second home in Thailand. The staff are all Thai including senior management and their sole focus is looking after you as a family. They are happy and that flows through to the guests. Many of them live together in nearby staff accommodation when not at their family homes. The view from the resort is stunning and changes with the tide. At low tide there is a huge sand area to walk across broken up by the occasional long tail boat seemingly beached, waiting for the next high tide. Opposite is an uninhabited island and one tree. Anyone who’s stayed here will know one tree. Just around the corner on the beach is a more traditional swimming beach otherwise when the tide is in you have a huge safe area to paddle or float in. Breakfast for us is taken by the beach but some people choose to take it up on the covered terraced area. In the evening we regularly eat at the resort and indeed people come from outside to eat here as well, particularly for special occasions such as marriage proposals or romantic occasions. It’s a truly special setting. The resort spa offers a number of treatments and like everything else here prices are very fair, particularly for a small luxury boutique resort. A one hour Balinese massage was THB 1,400 and there were often promotions running which offered a 20% discount. Treatments are provided in purpose built air conditioned rooms, not on a mattress on the beach. By way of comparison the same treatment at the nearby Banyan Tree resort is just under THB 5,000. The reception team can book any trips or restaurant bookings you were thinking of doing during your stay and are always happy to advise on local markets and so on. Longtail boats can be hired for the day directly from the beach. A popular trip is to combine Hong Island, Laolading Island and Pakbia Island at a cost of around THB 3,000 for your own private boat and 4 people. For me the Nakamanda balances comfort, tranquility, nature and affordability perfectly and there are constant tweaks and improvements every time we stay here.

This boutique resort was amazing! It's located on the quieter side of Krabi, making it perfect for anyone looking to relax without the hustle and bustle of Ao Nang. The service was top-notch, and I want to give a special shoutout to Mut & Bus for making our pool days absolutely perfect. The rooms were super comfy, though the furniture was a bit dated, and unfortunately, our bed was sagging in the middle. I hope they refresh the furniture soon, but I would definitely come back. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

“A good stay with few annoyances”

There is no door in the toilet. It is fully open toward the bathtub - shower area. This whole area is not separated from the closet area. There is no door in the toilet. It is fully open toward the bathtub - shower area. This whole area is not separated from the closet area. Basically, you are exposed to your partner stumbling upon you sitting on the toilet. Otherwise the room is quite comfortable. The hotel is fully situated on the hill, stairs everywhere. Not good if you have bad knees or something mobility-related. The staff is very good and accommodating. The breakfast is quite good too, and sometimes excellent, depending on variety. The hotel is located on the beach; however, this part of the beach is subject to near-complete dry-out during low tides (which are twice a day). The main part of the Klong Muang beach is few hundred steps to the left if leaving the hotel behind your back and facing the sea. Some parts of the sea floor are rocky, be careful when getting into the water. It is also a bit strange the reception cannot change hard currencies into the baht, you'd have to walk about 15 minutes in the sun to do it in the nearest exchange booth. Generally my stay was quite pleasant. Apart from the fact that I was forced to frequent the beach toilet - not to embarrass myself and my partner by accidental meeting in the room's no-privacy joint. Hope the management will spare few $$ and provide at least a symbolic protection not to spoil the romance for the couples staying here.
