“10th anniversary celebration”

We spent 5 days there to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We love the anniversary surprises!! The staff is friendly and helpful - requests were promptly responded. Food at flames and amber was also nice. Massage was great. We had a great stay :)

This secluded resort is perfect for a relaxing, peaceful getaway! It is set on a hillside facing the ocean, with absolutely stunning views in every direction. My wife and I so enjoyed our 9-night stay here that we were sad when it was time to leave! I am a Diamond Ambassador, but the upgrade they gave us was way above my entitlement or expectation. I booked a King Classic, on points, and they upgraded us to a Beachside Villa with Pool – about 5 or 6 categories higher! The resort was quiet when we were there (mid-end September), so maybe that’s why, but no complaints from me! The room was excellent. A huge comfy bed along with everything else you need, including a plentiful supply of bottled water. The bathroom was large with twin basins, spacious shower, separate toilet and an absolutely massive spa bath! Lovely toiletries from Byredo. Both rooms had access to the outside, where we had our own patio, pool, covered area and garden fronting the pretty beach. We paid a supplement for access to Club InterContinental, which has amazing views out to sea and is a superb vantage point for the spectacular sunsets. That includes a comprehensive, delicious breakfast buffet (taken in the restaurant below), afternoon tea and evening canapes with drinks. The standard was great and all the Club staff were lovely – friendly, polite and attentive. In fact, all the staff we encountered throughout the resort were really nice. The resort only has 2 restaurants but the menus were varied enough for us not to get bored. ‘Amber’ specialised in Thai and Indian food (very good it was too!) and ‘Flames’ majored on grills, pizzas etc. The food seemed reasonably-priced for a top hotel, although some of the wines looked overpriced. If you wanted to eat elsewhere, you’d probably need a taxi! We mostly used the steps (many of them!) to get around the place, but you can just call for a buggy if you want to stay cool! Every time we called for one it arrived within minutes and our Villa was about as far away from the lobby as you can get! All in all, a fabulous retreat which we would not hesitate to visit again.

Some of the most stunning views I have ever experienced are to be found at the Intercontinental Koh Samui Resort. From the moment we arrived, the service could not have been better. Huge thanks to our host/butler Ter, who was always on hand with a smile, and suggestions for bookings etc. And also to the delightful Don. We were upgraded to a Club room with Club lounge access (Ambassador Status) which was the highlight of our stay due to the view and the service (thanks Lisa, and the amazing team at the Club lounge where we enjoyed daily afternoon tea and cocktails. It was my friend's birthday during the stay and the Club Lounge team (knowing we did not eat sugar) got very creative and delivered a stunning cake crafted from watermelon pieces!). The architecture of this resort is quite remarkable - including a wooden suspension bridge that swings high among the trees. The location is secluded (which we loved but younger folks may not). The service at all restaurants could not have been better and more attentive, right down to Alexis the chef. The only downsides for us were the service by the pools (which was non existent to the point of ridiculous and contrasted to the impeccable service everywhere else at the resort). And the menu which just didn't seem to have enough Thai dishes in comparison to other cusine (but given the clientele were predominately Chinese, perhaps that is by design). However, once we discovered the dishes we enjoyed and stuck with those, all was perfect. We would definitely return.
