We recently sold our villa in Koh Samui so decided to book Zazen. Over the years we had frequented the restaurant as it has always had great food, but we had never stayed at the hotel. We were very impressed with everything about the hotel. We had a perfect view of the sea from our beach front room. The food is great. And most importantly, the staff are fantastic. Professional and friendly. There are many hotel options in Samui. We could have stayed at a top international hotel & paid international prices, or opt to stay at this lovely family owned hotel for a fraction of the price while enjoying superior service. We made the correct decision. I would highly recommend Zazen and we will return.

“Bathrooms & bugs let this resort down !”

We stayed for four nights, 7th - 11th April , sadly it wasn’t quite the stay we was hoping for. 1st impression on arrival is that the resort is work/refurbishing in progress, the gardens are less than lush and tropical and a lot of the plants look dead and dry, lots of screening still needs to be done to hide building materials and scruffy areas. The water feature round the open reception is stagnant green water and the wooden bridge that goes across looks and feels rotten in places. Check in was ok friendly enough, we was shown to room 19 side sea facing room, on entering the walls in the bedroom were swarming with mosquitoes/flys and the bathroom even worst, we spoke to reception and housekeeping bought us some plug in mozi repellents, but the arrival of a huge cockroach in the bathroom that night was the final straw for that room, so no sleep on our 1st night, The following morning the manager who was very nice and accommodating moved us to a garden villa, which although was mozi/fly free had 2 lizards in the bathroom, there seems to be a problem with these rooms that there not properly sealed , badly fitting entrance doors and in the bathrooms gaps round window frames and in the tongue and groove wood ceilings leading to the roof space. Also that evening we was without water so couldn’t shower or flush the toilet, apparently the whole resort had no water. The villas are nicely furnished but the bathroom and shower walls and floor are in a painted finish, which is badly marked and not clean, these areas should be tiled. It’s such a shame to give this hotel an average rating as the pool and restaurant area are superb and we really enjoyed our breakfast there with the ocean views and the staff are very friendly and the service excellent.
