We original were not booked to stay at the Santiburi but got moved from their sister resort. Was not to sure about being moved at first. But how wrong could I be. The Santiburi was perfect. From the minute we arrived in the reception, which I have to say was picture perfect. My wife and I were treated like regulars who have been back to the hotel year after year. Taken into the cool, relaxed bar area, we were treated to a cool drink and the much needed iced towels. In no time at all the where driven down to our villa. To say I was happy when I opened the gates to our beautiful villa with plung pool was an understatement. The place was perfect. So much room and comfort. My wife loved the bathroom as it had a bath. (previous villa did not). Every night someone would come along and turn down the bed, plus light a mozzie candle outside the villa to keep the pests away. We went just a little out of season which I have to say I loved. Few times we seemed to have the pool to ourselves. Biggest private pool in Koh Samui I would say. The beach area was busy and I can see why. Love beds to lay on. The views to the other islands, picture perfect. Service was excellent. Constantly being give water (free) to keep you hydrated. Breakfast was a dream for me. Eating all Thai curry for breakfast. Lots of choice both western and asian. Service again top notch. We ate both at the pool bar and the restaurant. As you would expect the service was excellent and the food just as good. Will need to look out for a good deal for the Santiburi as maybe just a little out of a pensions budget. But would go back there in a shot. One of the best hotels ive been to. Quick thank to you Apple. She was amazing. We had a lot of grief and issues at first with the sister hotel/villas. But she ironed out all the problems and helped my wife and I have then perfect holiday. Apple and here front of house staff where amazing. Can not thank them enough. If you're thinking of staying here. I can only say from my onion that it's a must. P.S. If there is any whiskey drinkers going to the villa. Try the whiskey and red wine cocktail. Yes I know its sounds rough. But it was delicious.

We spent a week here. Top notch service, spotless even though over 30 years old, delicious food but not painful prices. Lots of inclusives such as breakfast, afternoon tea, snacks etc. They arrange activities for you and give you local tips. No rip offs! They treat guests like family. Spa is fabulous too, best ever! Luxurious setting with perfect massage techniques. Excellent location too. Just right outside the resort, you have all amenities and excellent local eats. And not far away from any attractions. The magical Santiburi Koh Samui experience, gives Thai hospitality a totally new meaning. The staff’s interpersonal and welcoming attitude lends a touch of charm to everything that is real Thailand. Sincere thanks to everyone but especially to this team who’s made our stay so memorable. It’s probably the best holiday ever! Khun Santi should be proud of his terrific service team and the paradise he has created. He’s an admirable businessman that continued paying every single staff during Covid lockdown, and personally assisted any staff who was financially struggling. His business group also owns Singha Brewery. More reason to drink Singha now! 🍻 Santiburi truly lives up to its meaning - The land of tranquility and peace. Will be returning as an annual personal retreat. See you all again next year and again the next.

“Almost Paradise”

Stayed here with my family of three last month for seven days. We had booked this hotel based on the reviews the drone video on YouTube which showed off the beautiful beach. To be honest when we first arrived, we were slightly disappointed with our first impressions of the hotel. We were taken to a cool reception area and given a welcome drink, the duplex room that we were put in was very disappointing. Looking at the website and reviews it was an impression that such rooms would be set away from the main building and be stand alone. However, it’s soon became a parent that the duplex suites were all attached to the main building. Where is the bungalows and the reserve were in separate grounds. This would not have been a problem had we looked out of our balcony onto a peaceful setting. However our room looked straight out onto a children’s play area which was around 10 metres away with playground attractions, including a big trampoline. We could not believe that our piece of paradise consisted of looking out on a Childrens play area. Straightaway, we complained to reception and whilst they were willing to listen and rehouse us in another duplex suite now. This did not become free until the next day meaning we had to move at around midday 24 hours later. Hotel facilities were generally well maintained and the food was of a high standard. There were two main restaurants that you could dine in. The one on the beach which had occasional entertainment early evening until 9pm and the Thai restaurant in the main building. On a couple of occasions the service was very poor in the beach restaurant. Once we had booked a specific table for dinner on the beach just three hours before only to find that the staff had no record of it despite the member of staff that booked it not owning up to what was clearly a mistake. Another time we waited and waited and waited for service as we continually were ignored. It felt at times that you were in the Bermuda Triangle of ‘no service’. If you didn’t want Thai food or even if you did, choices were limited. We did manage to order some of the food from the lunchtime menu at times but this was a real challenge. The beach restaurant seemed to be short staffed and lacking in organisation. The very helpful lady from the pool, Charlene had to help out at one time when clearly they didn’t have enough people to serve the guests. Breakfast offered a good choice of food. However the hotel need to put the hot food available in an air conditioned area. When we were there this was in a separate hot and sweaty area on the side of the breakfast room which made it uncomfortable when you were waiting for your food to be presented at one of the cooking stations. The pool area was superb and well maintained with great attention to the guests with towels and sun beds by the hotel staff. The huge 50 metre pool was a big plus and there were plenty of sun beds available. In terms of the beach this was beautiful with plenty of comfortable sun beds, hammocks and the availability of water sports for free such as paddle boarding. My wife and daughter did this activity twice and really enjoying having this access to the equipment. Generally this was a fantastic hotel album service was somewhat patchy. So whilst the service in the beach restaurant was poor the staff in reception we’re always helpful when ordering hotel luxury taxis at a very reasonable price to and from the Fisherman’s market. One big thing that is missing is the lack of a late night bar. Whilst there is a small lobby bar this is always closed. When we came back to the hotel one night at 10pm and wanted a drink at the bar the receptionist suggested we could walk 400 metres out of the hotel grounds to a scruffy make shift bar in the street! This too is was shocking for a hotel that suggested they were a 5 star resort. Would we recommend? Overall yes but expect slow service limited food choices but a beautiful spot on the beach with a great pool area. Santiburi management please look at the service at the beach bar and open up the lobby bar for your valuable high paying guests. Sent from my iPad
