We could not have had a better time than here at the Houben. All of the staff were so attentive and friendly from start to finish. In-fact we extended our stay and still did not want to leave! The room was so spacious, clean, modern and gorgeous. The view is unreal. The pool is stunning and the food and cocktails were delicious. We even enjoyed some of the games on offer in the restaurant, when we had a little rain. A really great, relaxing atmosphere. Again, we could not praise the staff more, they all deserve so much credit. Always making us feel welcome, it was sad to leave! I wish I’d wrote this review sooner but I’ve never been good at completing reviews but this hotel deserves a 10/5!! I really hope we make it back! Thank you The Houben!!

We recently stayed at the Houben for four nights on our honeymoon. We had such a lovely time. They put us in a room on the top floor which had amazing views. All the staff were really lovely and very helpful and friendly. There’s a little village a short walk from the hotel which has restaurants and a 7/11 which was convenient. We had a massage down the village each day which was relaxing. The beach bar has a good fire show every evening and relaxing vibe. We spent most nights there. Our original plan was to taxi to other parts of the island to try but we ended up not leaving the area. We had lunch in the hotel most days. The food from the menu was amazing. The breakfast was lovely too. We have just had a busy 4 days in Phuket so it was lovely to just relax at the Houben before our next busy stop. So glad we chose Koh Lanta and this hotel. Thanks you to all the staff.

“Wonderful experience - special mention to the lovely staff!!!”

We stayed at one of the suites at The Houben for three nights a couple of weeks ago, and honestly - it was WONDERFUL. The only complaint I have is that three nights wasn't enough! We stayed at one of the suites at The Houben for three nights a couple of weeks ago, and honestly - it was WONDERFUL. The only complaint I have is that three nights wasn't enough! Some highlights... 1. The view is spectacular!! The sunsets are spectacular!! (But the photos attest to this right??!) 2. The staff are amazing. So kind and courteous, and went above and beyond to help us. They booked multiple transfers for us, and showed a genuine interest in our safety when we enquired about renting a scooter - we decided to take their advice on board and rent a car and driver for the day and we weren't disappointed. The driver was amazing! He told us so many facts and stories about the area. And, the staff also organised an early breakfast box for us one morning. 3. Monkeys!! No doubt the locals see them as a menace, but they're good entertainment for us guests - also, one stole a melon from my breakfast plate one morning and who I assume was the manager was so apologetic!! It wasn't necessary to be so apologetic but we appreciated it all the same! 4. The bed and the room was very comfortable!!! 5. The abundance of fresh fruit was a nice touch!! 6. 2-4-1 between 5-7 on cocktails and beer!!! Some points to improve... 1. The hotel is a bit tired... The outside jacuzzi in the suite was very tired, and almost broken 2. The shower's hardware was a bit tired and old looking (but it worked!!) 3. The pool... We appreciate that the red pool is a statement piece, but it's not very appealing! If the time comes to revamp it, maybe stick to blue? 4. The wardrobes and drawers were worse for wear However, the points above wouldn't stop me returning!! They're small details in the grand scheme of things!!!

We liked this hotel. It’s different to the others we stayed in on Koh Lanta as it has a modern style rather than Thai (nice but could be anywhere in the world). The red tiled pool is unusual and takes advantage of the view. The hotel has a red theme which sort of works. The location is good with fantastic cliff top sea views. The beach is a 10 minute walk away and it’s quite nice although rocky in parts at low tide. Walk up the beach to Same Same but Different restaurant where it’s great for swimming. Other nice beaches are a short drive away. The hotel is on the southern part of Koh Lanta which is noticeably quieter and less touristy than the north. Some good eating spots in the small nearby village especially Himalaya. Music every night and fire shows at the beach bars. Food in the hotel is very very good and there’s a wide choice of Thai and western dishes. All staff are helpful and friendly. Nothing was a problem and there was always a smile. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with good sized decks. House keeping was perfect. Unfortunately the internet is poor and drops out often which was disappointing. Overall we thought the hotel was good value. The area is OK for a short stay as the small village is lovely but you need transport to get the best of southern Koh Lanta.
