“Fine for solo travellers”

I stayed at this hotel for a week in December on a Bed and Breakfast basis. I arrived quite late at night, so I was very tired, and there was no one at reception. Somebody pointed out that there was someone in what looked like a cupboard, but it took a while to grab his attention, as he was looking at his phone. However, he dealt with me in a professional manner. I was given a room on the 6th floor, which was fine, but I was soon to discover that I was unable to plug in the kettle to either of the sockets in the kitchenette section. When I mentioned it to another member of staff the next day, he just shrugged his shoulders and said "it's OK," so I had to use the socket by my bed. Otherwise, the room was fine, if a little dated perhaps, but it was quaint, and I was comfortable. Just a shame it overlooked a large sports hall, where there seemed to be noise until quite late at night, so I couldn't sit out on the balcony. Luckily, however, there was a sitting area in the room which was nice, though there wasn't much light to do anything at night - I like to do my embroidery of an evening, even on holiday. I was also looking forward to using the swimming pool, but this was closed on the first two days due to high winds, but that was fine as it was open in time for my birthday on the third day of my holiday. However, be warned as it is not as large as it looks on the photos in the holiday brochures (Jet 2), but it is pleasant enough, and very quiet. Another slight issue I had was that I had been told my room would be serviced every day except Sunday, which was fine. On the Monday, the cleaners knocked on my door before I went out at 10.00am, and I said, in Spanish, that I would be gone in 10 minutes. When I came back 6 hours later, the room had not been cleaned, so I thought they must have misunderstood. However, it was not cleaned on the Friday either. That said, there always seemed to be cleaners working somewhere in the building. Other positive things to note - breakfasts were fine, and the bus station is just across the road, and the beach a 5-10 minute walk away with plenty of supermarkets nearby, and Loro Parque, which is only a 15-minute walk is well worth visiting. However, I didn't feel safe walking around the neighbourhood on my own in the evening, which is why I always went out early. That said, once I established a reasonably safe route into town, via the bus station, I was OK, and I would return to this hotel.

The hotel's nice and clean room was a good size. The food was great, as was the drinks' lovely pool on the roof. the only downside was that the bar was on the ground floor. The hotel is in a good location. The rooms were dated but clean and tidy. The pool is on the roof top with great views but only opens at 10am . The receptionists was always helpful but the bar staff were not always available or friendly. The food was ok but the same everyday.
