We’ve stayed here many times over the years. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and are one of the main reasons we have stayed here several times. Some changes have started to creep in over the past 12 months, since the place has had new owners. The legendary happy hour has finished and the bar menu has changed. It has less snacks on it and I missed Lucy’s delicious omelettes this year. What they have on the menu did look good but we didn’t want a large meal at lunch time. However, the supermarket is nearby, so we sorted lunches out for ourselves. The pool has new sun beds which is great. Rooms haven’t changed, but we assume that’s a work in progress. We’ve always loved the comfy beds and they are clean. We’d like a few UK tv channels though. I know you don’t come on holiday to watch tv but a news channel would be nice, so you could catch up with things when you have breakfast. Now onto the worrying part. There were a lot of large groups of lads/girls staying this time. It was intimidating to see large groups of lads checking in at reception. And when they were all sitting together by the pool, let’s just say, some of the language used and conversations had were not appropriate, especially with young kids around. These groups simply had a lack of respect and consideration for other guests. At one point we were so sick of one lad’s loud conversation about how many drugs he’d consumed and how many girls he’d hooked up with, even we left the pool to get away from his loud mouth. He was even rating female guests out of 10, which was despicable. Another time, some girls decided the music playing from the pool bar wasn’t enough and decided to blast theirs out from their balcony. Let’s just say the two didn’t mix and our peace was shattered. Some nights we’d get back from our night out, around 1am and the poor guy on reception would look visibly stressed from all the unruly and noisy behaviour. We didn’t witness any of this because we were out, but other guests did and weren’t very happy. At one point there was an extra security guard there keeping an eye on things, so it’s good that they are trying to stop this behaviour. However, it’s sad that these steps are needed, just because some people are selfish. It’s with a heavy heart that we may consider staying elsewhere on our next visit. I think many other regulars will feel the same too. It’s just too unpredictable. We still had a great holiday but we miss Marola Portisin and don’t think it’s changed for the better as the new Whala. Such a shame and we really hope things start to get better for future guests and existing staff.

Starting with the hotel where the staff were very nice and helpful from the reception cleaners and the pool bar staff . The rooms were very basic and could do with an upgrade beds creak when you move in them and with no air conditioning (just fans on the ceiling) it can be very warm . It is situated about 15 mins from the first pubs and a good 25 mins from Veronica’s strip. The pool area is very crowded with sun beds too close together making access to the pool very hard to get inn and out. This is our second visit and it has changed so much with groups of young male and females who shout all day and night playing music into the early hours of the morning and banging about slamming doors . It’s a shame because it’s a nice complex let down with the rowdiness of certain people. The food at the pool bar is nice but a little expensive to buy everyday. As I said this was our second stay but sorry to say we won’t be back
