Home from a brilliant week staying at the Bitacora. We travelled as a family of 2 adults and 2 children. After booking this hotel and looking at the reviews I was concerned as to the type of holiday we were going to have, however I cannot find fault with this hotel. Due to the time of year we went (18 March to 25 March) it was lovely and quiet, no queues at bars restaurants or fights for sunbeds. Lovely atmosphere at pool area and night entertainment area. Pool was heated which was amazing for our 2 kids, lovely and clean with daily entertainment. The food at pool bar was great, great selection for adults and kids. Food in restaurant was lovely aswell. Drinks package with all inclusive was brilliant, cocktails, grey goose and absolute vodka included with package. Rooms were clean and spacious, cleaned daily. It sits in a brilliant location in Las Americas easy walk to busy area and beach. Unfortunately at the airport when travelling home my daughter took unwell which resulted in her having a hospital stay, my son and husband returned to the Bitacora to check if they could book a room for a further night due to these circumstances and they were so accommodating and helpful with this. We will definitely be returning to this hotel. Thanks for a brilliant holiday.

This was my first solo holiday and from the moment I walked into reception I felt at ease and comfortable. My room wasn’t ready when I arrived but I had added Up (this is for over 18s and gives you exclusive access to a rooftop area, pool, jacuzzi, sun beds, bar and food) when booking my all inclusive holiday. The lovely man who greeted me on reception suggested I go up there and get a drink and have a look around. I did and it was stunning. Quiet, clean and welcoming. I got a drink and sat down taking in the view. I went downstairs and checked into my room. It was lovely. A very good size, 2 single beds, a good sized bathroom with a large shower that had both hand held shower head and a rain shower attached to the ceiling. There was a crack in the bottom of the shower but it didn’t affect my use. There was a comfy sofa, 4 drawers, shelves and hanging space too. There was a safe which I had access to. I also had a coffee machine, kettle and mini fridge in my room. The view from my balcony wasn’t amazing, it was of an abandoned hotel, however, this wasn’t an issue for me as I only used my room to sleep, shower and change as I was out a lot. I personally feel the food choice was fabulous. I was spoiled for choice. I tried to eat differently as much as I could. I never went to the main dining room for lunch but did for breakfast and dinner. The food was great quality and the staff in the restaurant were fantastic. They were welcoming, friendly, attentive and made me feel comfortable. As you can imagine, eating alone can be a little nerve wracking but the staff were wonderful. One gentleman suggested wine for me, which was lovely and then they would put the cork back in and keep it for the next night. The staff cleared away quickly between courses and kept the restaurant looking clean and tidy. Most evenings I went into the fun bar after dinner. They had different acts on and I think your like of this is personal as we don’t all like the same things. It’s clear they try to book acts for all ages. There were some acts that I preferred to others. Again, in here the staff were attentive, it was welcoming for all ages and the staff serve you at the table, again, they were all lovely. I mainly spent my days on the roof. The sun beds were comfortable and towels were provided. I used the jacuzzi and the pool numerous times. There were hot drinks, water, fresh orange juice, lager, cider, wines and Prosecco you could help yourself to, alongside some lovely foods, breakfast and lunch. There was also a fully stocked bar. Again, the staff were fantastic, attentive, chatty and friendly. One evening I was invited to a meal on the roof and it was absolutely beautiful. We had some Prosecco on arrival followed by a number of courses, all of which was very tasty. My glass was topped up with wine on request. It was a little windy up there, however the staff offered blankets, which was a nice idea. One day I went downstairs to the outdoor bar and ordered a chicken toasted sandwich, which was lovely. They have lots of different entertainment down there, which I watched from the roof and it looked great fun. The kids looked like they were loving the slides and the pools. Again, staff were all great. The whole pool and bar area were clean. There were building works being done whilst I was there. I had been made aware of this by Jet2 before I left and given the option to change hotels but I decided to stay. The works didn’t disturb me at all and didn’t hear any noise unless I was going out for or coming in from a walk. However, whilst there I met a number of guests who had booked direct with the hotel and they hadn’t been made aware. I think that could possibly have been dealt with better. I was also aware that there was an issue with bedbugs, again, I wasn’t impacted by this. It was, however clear that the hotel was taking this seriously and visibly dealing with it. I was also told about a couple of issues with cockroaches in bedrooms. One couple didn’t say anything as far as I know but another family had the day that I was leaving so I’m unsure of the outcome. I’m hopeful that the hotel will have dealt with this situation quickly too. All in all, I personally had a wonderful holiday. I will absolutely be going back again. The staff made me feel so welcome and cared for. All staff I came across were fantastic, cleaning staff, maintenance, security, reception, lifeguards, restaurant and bar staff. The hotel should be proud of their staff as they’re the ones who make the hotel what it is. Thank you all so much for an absolutely fabulous holiday.

We had a few problems whilst at the hotel: The restuarant queues for evening meals were long & time consuming especially when we got in the restaurant to find so many empty tables which had not been cleared - maybe staff shortages but still frustrating. My husband fell ill on the day we were going home needing medical assistance I spoke to reception to ask if they could keep our room should we be a bit late getting back to complete our packing - the answer was NO even though I tried to explain his situation! The hotel itself was very nice with large rooms and we had no trouble finding sunbeds, it was also good to see socorrista taking towels off sunbeds if not used within an hour or so leaving a polite message explaining where their towels could be collected from!
