We enjoyed our stay in Big Sur. All staff were helpful and friendly. Nice ambience in reception, restaurant and bar area and poolside. Some restaurant reviews have been poor but we found both the a la carte and buffet perfectly fine and in fact dined in each night when I had originally planned to eat out 1 or 2 nights. Our panoramic view room did indeed have a grand sea view, although the room itself was a bit basic decor and short on storage space. Beds very comfortable. The hotel is popular with the more mature crowd, we are in our 50s and were almost the youngest ones there, but no big deal for us.

The staff are helpful anything you asked for was no problem Hotel is nice and clean but some areas are ated. We had seaview on 7th floor nice view small balcony's .But lounge area in nice with comfy seats Food in was good fair amount of choice and some days nice English Bacon. but on cold plates But the desert section was really nice one of the best i have seen and lots of tasty treats All the dinning room staff very friendly except one! .But young girl Bettyana was lovely smilling all the time But could not understand the water situation only 1/2ltr of sparkling but if you want still you had to have a 1ltr .complained and think this is now resolved it's expensive without wasting a full ltr on one person Nice touch was the presents and the chocolate nice to feel appreciated as a H10 member Downside was the pool to cold to use first time in H10 and not used the pool the idea of winter holidays is you can relaxe in a warm pool It's so cold nobody's doing aerobics It's the only reason I would not return One last thing some help or transport for cases to the coach pick up point should be provided due to the acute slope

“Can't Beat It's Location”

We have visited Tenerife numerous times, but this was our 1st visit to the Big Sur. We chose it for it's central location in Los Cristianos and the fact it was Adults Only. It hasn't got the greatest look from outside and if you have a room overlooking the hotel entrance like we had, you also get a lovely view of people's apartments right next door !! and that building is taller than the hotel. When booking there was no availability for a sea view room, which I would definately recommend. Our room was at the end of the corridor on floor 3, which also overlook the service entrance. Hence we were woken early by delivery vehicles and a skip wagon one morning. Our room was fairly small but adequate for a week. The weather wasn't good enough to sit out on the balcony, but it wasn't the best view anyhow. Bathroom was a little bit tired and even though it had a power shower, the flow of water was very poor. Reasonable amount of storage space. The safe and fridge were positioned within the wardobe area, and therefore we found the fridge got very warm. No kettle, but it did have a coffee machine. It was nice that you got bottles of water every day. The hotel was decorated with some lovely xmas displays in and around the reception/bar and restaurant areas. Food in general was good - lots of variety for hot food, and you could have items cooked freshly. Not always the hottest food, but there was a microwave should you want your food boiling hot. Funnily enough the soup was always hot, which is not always the case in hotels. The salads did become a bit repetative, but as always the desserts were lovely. You could set yourself up for the day with breakfast, especially if you had an omelette, they were huge. The pool area was nice and overlooked the promenade and harbour. Still cannot get our heads around the fact that people queue up to get sundbeds. The lifeguard took down the safety chain at 9.30am and guests were running to get the best beds ! Quite honestly, riddiculous. On the 8th floor was a chill out area with sunbeds and daybeds and fantastic views. There were not so many younger adults, I would say most were of the age of 60 +. The bar area was nice with a proper little stage for the entertainment. Can't comment really on the entertainment as most evenings we took a walk out into Los Cristianos or up the hill to a Sports Bar called Taylors to watch the football. Next to the reception was Mike's Cafe and every afternoon happy hour was 4.30-5.30pm. A mention to ALL the staff at the Big Sur who were always helpful, friendly and chatty. All in all, you can't beat this hotel for it's location. We have stayed in worst hotels, and we have stayed in better hotels and yes, we would probably visit again, but it would have to be a sea view room.

We stayed here for eight nights on a half board basis. The location is great, literally a few mins walk into Los Cristianos town and about 40 mins into Playa de las Américas. The hotel is very clean, lovely boutique chilled vibe. The pool area lovely and the pool itself is deep enough to swim in. The bar area in the evening is great too. The evening entertainment is average/good. The rooms are perfectly fine and we had a seaview. The corridors leading up to the rooms could do with a freshen up. For us the biggest letdown is the food. You can swap your dinner for an a la carte lunch for 9 euros each. The first time we did this the lunch was amazing. However there were 3 occasions where the food wasn’t cooked properly. Once more at lunch in the a la carte and at dinner from the cooking station and at breakfast the omelette wasn’t done properly. We also witnessed an argument between two of the chefs. After this we lost faith in eating in there and just ate out for all our meals for the rest of the holiday.
