“Excellent Boutique Hotel”

Loved the hotel from arrival to departure. Spotlessly clean, great staff, the pool area great to chill in, recommend a sea facing room ( if you can get one). Like children but great to have a few weeks without them! stayed an extra 2 weeks and booked 4 weeks next December 2025 .. says it all

Superb hotel with the friendliest staff we have ever experienced. Spent 10 days there over Christmas and had a wonderfully chilled holiday. We have already booked again for next year. Try and book a sea view room so you can watch the ferries arriving at the port. A special mention must go to the bar staff, and the cleaning staff who are amazing.

“A pre Christmas break”

We are an older couple just back from spending a very enjoyable week at H10 Big Sur, despite a couple of days of unseasonable windy weather. My wife particularly enjoyed her freshly cooked bacon and egg for breakfast, whilst I opted for the continental option of the many meats, cheeses, breads and pastries available. Dinner is a buffet (we found ample choices each night including fresh meats and fish cooked to order)with an a la carte available if pre-booked and with one sitting included in the half-board option. We had a superior room (smallish but perfectly adequate) with a sea view and an extensive balcony with two chairs and two loungers. Coffee making facilities are provided in the room or, as we preferred tea, the hotel provided us with tea bags instead and would have provided a kettle if we hadn't brought one with us. We received a bottle of Champagne and profiteroles delivered to our room on our first afternoon and each evening we received a small carton of chocolates and other small gifts like a body cream or a small bottle of wine. Very thoughtful and much appreciated indeed! We also received two bottles of water delivered to our room each morning, again much appreciated. Just a pity there wasn't more room in the fridge (full with mini bar bottles etc) to cool one of these bottles of water. Our room was, as expected, cleaned daily and the reception area was kept very clean indeed. There is direct access to and from the hotel to the promenade using your wrist band which functions as a key. We didn't use the pool or the sun loungers surrounding it but many residents appeared to avail of this option. The entrance to the hotel is down quite a steep slope of maybe 15-20 metres. The transfer bus stops on the road at the top of the slope so some guests may need help with cases. However I noticed as we were leaving the hotel offered guests help to get cases up the slope so this shouldn't prove problematic. All in all a very enjoyable week in December in a hotel, whose greatest strength is the quality and cheerfulness of its staff and I would emphasise, all staff, catering, bar cleaning and reception personnel. Would we return? Yes and hopefully in the not too distant future.

We enjoyed our stay in Big Sur. All staff were helpful and friendly. Nice ambience in reception, restaurant and bar area and poolside. Some restaurant reviews have been poor but we found both the a la carte and buffet perfectly fine and in fact dined in each night when I had originally planned to eat out 1 or 2 nights. Our panoramic view room did indeed have a grand sea view, although the room itself was a bit basic decor and short on storage space. Beds very comfortable. The hotel is popular with the more mature crowd, we are in our 50s and were almost the youngest ones there, but no big deal for us.
