“Great family break”

A most enjoyable week over New Year. The hotel was full but it never seemed busy. Excellent facilities, great choice and very good staff. Would certainly return.

I recently stayed at Barceló Tenerife for 8 nights, spending over 1500€. While the experience had its highlights, several aspects fell short of expectations for a hotel in this price range. The Good: - The food was definitely a strong point. There was a good variety of options, and the quality was consistent throughout my stay. - The outdoor pool designated as "warm" was enjoyable, though not particularly hot. The Not-So-Good: - Amenities: I was surprised to find that there’s no spa at the hotel. The wellness facilities are limited to hairstyling and massages, which doesn’t match the impression of a luxury resort. - Additionally, there are no indoor pools, which would’ve been nice given the unpredictable weather. - Inconveniences: Reserving a spot at the beach bar just to get something simple, like fries, felt unnecessary and overly complicated. At dinner, drinks weren’t included—even water—which was frustrating, especially since the tap water isn’t drinkable. - Noise: The constant sound of airplanes flying overhead was disruptive and made it difficult to fully relax. The hotel’s proximity to the airport might be convenient for some, but it negatively impacts the overall atmosphere. - Housekeeping: The cleaning staff weren’t as careful as I’d expect, as they occasionally threw personal items from the bed without consideration. Final Thoughts: While the hotel has some redeeming qualities, like good food and a pleasant pool area, it fell short in several key areas, especially for the price. The lack of basic amenities, unnecessary restrictions, and constant noise detracted from the experience. I would recommend Barceló Tenerife only if you prioritize food and proximity to the airport over peace, quiet, and a full range of facilities.

The good - The food was amazing, every breakfast, lunch and dinner. The atmosphere was peaceful and restful. Everything was clean, staff nice. The constructive - Minimal entertainment for the kids, I think there was a few discos. But we thought there was going to be a play park, splash pad, something. There is a kids club but it was tiny room and I think they just did little crafts which my kids found a bit boring and didn't want to go. The heated pool was so still so cold, we couldn't go in it much which is normally where we spend most of our time, but it was just too uncomfortable. All other pools were freezing as not heated. So we went out most days for entertainment and came back for food and sleep. Wonderful hotels for couples, not for families.

“Great entertainment, food and drink. All staff were lovely. Bedroom was below expectations, needs a refurb . .”

Booked a Christmas break for my family, four rooms in total, all inclusive, so quite expensive. On arrival the reception was great, we had assistance to hire a wheelchair and offers of help with the luggage. Booked a Christmas break for my family, four rooms in total, all inclusive, so quite expensive. On arrival the reception was great, we had assistance to hire a wheelchair and offers of help with the luggage. Can’t fault the wonderful staff, everyone was so friendly and fun, Jose (aka The Grinch) in Breeze was hilarious and all the animation team were engaging, but not pushy and there were plenty of activities. The Christmas shows were classy and great to see so much on for the children, Santa, Reindeers, elves, five types of bouncy castles and a kids buffet, it was lovely to see. A wide variety of food and drink, but we did have a concern with temperature control on the buffet which I raised with the hotel who promised to investigate. My only disappointments were that my room 413, was shabby, overdue a refit and the bathroom fittings were not very clean, needed disinfecting. There is only one heated pool which, understandably was full of children, if one of the other pools was heated I’d have enjoyed my stay much more.
