Reception – spacious, comfy seating to wait, but very warm (air con rules in Canary Islands!). Friendly staff. Check in faff…sigh. When we arrived (as we discovered later) the hotel was upgrading the door locks and key cards. There was a mix up, and we were given the wrong key cards. Being on the 10th floor it took a long time to go back and forth to Reception in the (slow) lifts to get the right key cards – three attempts in all, and we were hot, tired, hungry and fed up! Clearly a one-off, so not a big deal once we were settled in. Room – very clean, towels, bedding etc. Plenty of storage space. Agreed to room clean on alternate days in return for a free safe. Big bathroom – toilet and bidet, walk in shower. Shampoo, conditioner and show gel in shower. We had 2 rooms – air con in one was not very efficient and we could not get cool – air con in the other was lovely and cold. Shower – initially it was full blast, and stayed at the right temp once you found what you liked. Part of the stay we noticed the shower head had been changed – it was no longer at full blast, and the water temp kept fluctuating. One minute ok, then suddenly either freezing or scalding! Tv had lots of channels, including English. Coffee machine (with coffee pods and tea bags supplied) which we also used to make tea. Fridge to store drinks and snacks. Balcony with light, table and chairs, and a pull-out drying rack. Great views from the 10th floor! Restaurant – we were B&B so ate breakfast every morning but no other meals in hotel. Breakfast was splendid, so much choice, lovely fresh food, hot food replenished frequently, some dishes cooked to order for you. Lovely large dining areas: we often sat at the far side away from food counters and people milling about, doors open, nice sea breeze, so we stayed cool. Lovely and clean, very attentive staff. Kids loved choice of eggs, pancakes and pastries! There is no snack bar for lunches – if you are AI you have the BBQ restaurant to use as and when, and we enquired about using this on a pay-as-you-go basis but it was very expensive. To the side of the hotel there is a café called the Smart Bakery that sells lovely baguettes etc, so we used that for some of our lunches and ate by the pool. We bought take away pizza from Mario’s and ate that pool side; at the beach we used the beach cafes. Food for non AI guests of the hotel would make the stay easier, especially when the kids are hungry NOW! Pools – fab! Saltwater pools but not overly salty (as my son found out!). Slides were fun, main pool had activities every day – water polo, aqua aerobics, inflatable assault course, or a pool party later. No problem with inflatables in pool. Sunbeds reserved by guests ridiculously early (who didn’t show up to use them), but there were spare sunbeds and somehow each day we managed to get a bed or two in the shade. (We could see the middle pool from our hotel room and saw towels placed before 7am!) Pool side bar was handy for drinks, refreshing but weak cocktails. Temperature of pools was lovely, not too cold but cold enough to refresh you. We used the pools every day. Facilities – toilets available in all common areas, including by the pool. Bar areas were lovely – we used the main bar on level 0 (Reception level) and the staff were very friendly and polite. Lots of space, comfy chairs and sofas. Entertainment was great – we enjoyed a sing-song and a little dance! Drinks not too outrageously priced – our room bill at the end of our stay was less than expected! Entertainment staff are very friendly and funny – lots of fancy dress (they must have been boiling!). Aqua aerobics with Javier was great fun! Music festival with games and snacks was lovely – we competed in the games and were given a free Iberostar t-shirt. Little shop near the pool selling beach style ladies wear was lovely. The lady running the shop often did a little fashion show round the main pool showing what she was selling. I chatted with her in the shop and she was very friendly. Entertainment staff member Victoria did some face painting on our last day – she was very sweet, and I could have sat and chatted to her all day! All the staff were great at talking with guests and encouraging guests (adults and kids!) to join in the games. Tables with pool and table tennis indoors. Didn’t use the kids club but saw children happily engaged in activities. Lots of open communal areas indoors to sit and relax; library area with books (I left mine there once I’d finished reading it); desk with a couple of tablets on for people to do online research; arcade with games (youngest son liked the table football); gym that we did not use but was nice and air conditioned, very cool inside! Great location – 15 min walk to Siam Park, easy to find. Restaurants and bars around us – loved Mario’s directly opposite hotel, and tapas at El Tejado just around the corner. Used the Smart Bakery next to the hotel for some lunches. Bobo Beach was a 2-minute walk down steps from the hotel gardens. Primarily a sandy beach there are rocks in the sea – we stubbed our toes a few times! TIP: Wear beach shoes in the water. We spotted fish in the sea here! Further along, at Playa la Troya, there are no rocks in the sea, and the sand is HOT! The water is lovely, and the waves at this beach were great for body surfing. We could have stayed in the sea all day, it was so much warner than we are used to back in the UK! Had a hire car for 2 days and easily secured a space in the hotel car park. When we needed taxis Reception would arrange it, and we waited out front. Lifts – yes the lifts are slow, but you get used to it and either wait a bit or use the stairs! We never waited very long. Our room on the 10th floor meant we got lifts quickly in the morning going down to breakfast because no-one seemed to come and go from the ‘A’ floor above us! Everything was spotlessly clean, immaculate. Totally recommend this hotel for families. We loved our stay at the Bouganville, and hope to return.

“Really good hotel would return in the future!”

We had to change our hotel due to building work in the hotel we previously chose to stay in, this was very nerve racking as it was last minute and there was a limited choice of hotels available. We had to change our hotel due to building work in the hotel we previously chose to stay in, this was very nerve racking as it was last minute and there was a limited choice of hotels available. However, we still wanted to enjoy our holiday and make the most of the 10 days, we arrived at the hotel and were pleasantly surprised with the hotel being brilliant. The rooms were extremely clean, the food was exceptional and there was always space to sunbathe. We were originally meant to be staying in las Américas but were really happy we moved to costa Adeje, overall would definitely return to this hotel it was friendly, clean and was in a great location.
