Enjoyable weeks break at the Hovima. Everywhere was spotless. The food was very good with plenty of selection. There were 6 of us and nearly every meal we made different choices. The staff were all very pleasant and friendly. The entertainment team were excellent and didn’t force you to take part. Shout out for Floors but really all of the team. We enjoyed the opportunity to try pistol shooting, with varying degrees of success. There was a choice of two pools and no shortage of sunbeds, all with new mattresses. You could not reserve these until 8.30 am. I wouldn’t say there seemed to be that many queuing of a morning. They were the dedicated sun bathers who wanted the first rays as they came round. We liked the position of the hotel with walks along the promenade in two directions. I’m sure we will be back.

“Relaxed week in the sun”

Very relaxed week in this lovely clean hotel. The housekeeping was excellent and our room comfortable. The pool area was kept well and the sun beds all comfortable with new mattresses. We don’t pretend to be experts on star ratings like some reviewers think they are. This hotels official rating is 4* and that’s good enough for us regardless of whether or not some guests think the services and facilities provided justify that rating or not. Our last visits were twice in 2019 and we decided a third visit was well overdue. The hotel was chosen because we knew what to expect but principally because of its adult only status and the ability to be able to sunbathe on the infinity pool terrace. Our primary requirement is peace and relaxation which the infinity terrace generally offers away from any poolside entertainment etc which takes place on the lower heart shaped pool area. On entering the hotel brightness and cleanliness of the reception area is very noticeable and this is the case with all other communal areas and pool terraces. We received a nice welcome from reception with a glass of cava and the check in process was quick and smooth. We booked a superior room with side sea view, which was the only option available when we booked the holiday with TUI and were allocated room 523 on the fifth floor overlooking the pool areas and terraces. Although these rooms are a tad small it had all that we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The beds were comfortable and we particularly appreciated the dual rain/ conventional shower and the fact that the water temperature was constant and did not fluctuate between hot and cold when in use. Our maids serviced the room daily to a very good standard with cleaning etc and towel changes. One problem we had in the room was the lack of a WiFi signal. It was virtually none existent and we had to go out onto the balcony to get a half decent signal strength. We twice reported it to reception. Apparently someone was sent to reboot the router but unfortunately it didn’t improve the signal strength. WiFi strength in all other areas was absolutely fine. We enjoyed the food provided in the buffet restaurant. There was a good variety of everything including salads, confectionary, fruit and cooked products both at breakfast ( my wife says they made the best porridge) lunch and dinner. Our preference is to dine on the restaurant terrace which we did exclusively on previous visits but because of the poor weather, namely cool or cold breeze/wind in the morning and evenings it was closed most of the time. As a consequence we had to dine inside the restaurant which is bright and well set out. Breakfast and lunch times were ok but I’m sorry to say it was manic and extremely noisy at dinner time. Not a pleasant environment in which to have our evening meal. Queues sometimes formed to be allocated a table at peak times but the managers did well in seating guests as quickly as possible. The waiting staff did a marvellous job and are to be congratulated on their efficiency in delivering drinks, clearing and resetting tables etc but they had to run around at some considerable speed in order to do so. Our preference after dinner is to go out into resort for a drink or two so we did not see much of the evening entertainment catching it only at the very late stages when almost finishing. The variety of solo etc artists that we did see seemed to be very good. However the room in which the entertainment takes place we found to be ridiculously noisy and unfortunately there was no escaping it in the communal areas so we retired with drinks to our room. After the holiday was booked we contacted the hotel and enquired about upgrading to the partial excellence service only to be told that the service was no longer available as of January 1st and the only options now were to upgrade the room to one of two kinds of suite and everything else that goes with it. The minimum cost for our 10 day stay would have been €900. We chose not to upgrade because for us this would have not been value for money. Of the 5 extra things excellence offers we would only have wanted only two, namely to sunbathe on the infinity pool terrace orange cushioned excellence sun-bed area and premium drinks. It was still possible to do the former on the blue cushioned sun beds which at the moment are available to all guests and we paid the small supplement for premium drinks. Although the early morning, late afternoon and evening breeze/wind made it cool or cold for 8 of our 10 day stay we had some good sunny very hot afternoon spells of sunshine and are grateful for that. We particularly extend our thanks to all the hotel staff for their services and contribution towards us having had an enjoyable holiday. I think it is well known now that from 1 May the managements intention is to make the entire infinity pool sun bed area excellence exclusive. As it’s not cost effective for us to upgrade and we do not want to sunbathe on either of the other two terraces it is with sadness that I have to say that we are unlikely to return to the hotel in the future.

Pleasant stay but it toke some fights to get it in place. Remember this hotel it is a 3 star so do our exception were very much of it but still didn’t reach the value of money. The best of this hotel is location, cleaning, and a few rooms with front seaview. However, we got good service (some) and the experience overall was ..OK. Maybe you think was good enough but: some communication issues made it a little less pleasant like fail credit card transactions. I think was a little overpriced from the beginning for the quality they can offer. I think also some of the employees really work hard to made the best of it and we have great respect for that but not all of them and that can be an expensive issue for you. I was asking for a different room as we couldn’t sleep two nights in row because extreme noise on street (trucks and water pumps and other heavy machines) I was promised they will contact us as soon availability shows up but I could see no interest was very much shown and finally we found our selves the availability on your website which I thought was lack of of interest or respect for our deal. The management has a polite but far away desire to help it’s customers, it is the profit first and then the customer which I also respect but this made me to not return to this place, they really think may offer more then they actually can do. I think also there are some features that are over exploited like sea view or location, indeed was nice to have it but I pay too much for it so you need to think twice: maybe it is the same price as 5 stars hotel somewhere else in the end! For the manager: you gave me an offer for: 13.858 SEK The reception charge us 15.328 SEK The euro-Swedish change never match no matter what your employees try to explain in the reply. Nobody answer me after we provide proof that the change of euro didn’t match comparing with other payments made at same card reader same location. So you owe me 1470 SEK ! I expect this amount to be returned if you respect yourself and your brand! In your place I will make an extra offer to my customers so that I show respect for his trust in Hovima. At the end, we payed about 1700 euros for one week two persons sea view with halvpension in a location side off pretty much everything, we don’t mind walking 30 min to ElDuque but still 30 min walk one way! Something to think about.
