We are due to stay with family and grandchild at Gran Tacande this coming Christmas and had seen some recent extreme good versus worrying bad reviews on TripAdvisor. So we decided the only way to get a proper opinion is to go see it ourselves in case we want to change to a different hotel for Christmas… Having now just returned from 5 nights at the hotel we would like to share our views… We have stayed in several other hotels around this area, layout is similar, it’s a traditional Canary Island style lots of different buildings and quirky rooms and balconies. Apparently Spain has 3 different grades of 5 Star, we’ve stayed in some real high quality ones but of course they come at a much higher price! Gran Tacande is 5 Star, and much better value than some of the other hotels around the area, with the same location and same beach access. Lobby area is huge with plenty of sitting areas. Activities during the day and entertainment every evening. Most of the time activities are outside but we had a Calima with its approaching thunder storm during our stay and everything quickly moves indoors. Loads of space around the various pools, and one of the main reasons for our checking it out is the reviews about really slippery tiles around the pool. We’ll have a grandchild with us at Christmas so don’t want any falls! Answer is it’s no worse than other pools we’ve been to, you always have to be careful moving around the poolside. Food is amazing, better than we’ve experienced elsewhere. The buffet has huge choice and is replenished often, again better than many elsewhere. There are some building works going on at the shopping centre under the hotel and next door in some of the villas. And at the hotel itself, when we enquired these will be finished by Christmas. The hotel is being tidied up ready for Christmas and many of the decorations are already up. We spoke to many other guests during our stay and were happy to find many returning guests. We stayed in one of the Gold level rooms which has the added advantage of access to a private pool area with drinks and snacks included 10am-6pm. Food and drinks elsewhere in the hotel and in the evenings was reasonable price. We actually chose to use the main pool areas most of the time. The staff make any hotel, we found everybody at Gran Tacande friendly and welcoming, much more so than many many other hotels we’ve been to. Too many to mention all but shout outs to; All the Guest Experience and Reception team especially Monika who we asked so many questions to about Christmas, Joni, Ruth, Agustin, Caesar, Felipe, Mario, Manuel, Mabi, and DJ Pablo… The answer to our pre Christmas investigation mission is yes we’ll be back in 3 weeks time. “I Can't Recommend Enough - but if I do you may all go there, so keep it quiet!”

This was my second time at this hotel and I can't recommend it enough. If you want to go to a hotel from the moment you walk in you can just turn off, do nothing, relax and be looked after - this is where you need to come Because of its size it means everything is all close together, there's always plenty of sun loungers. The location of the hotel you can't get any better. It's right above the boardwalk and beach of Playa del Duque. So you're aware from the 'busy' bit of Adeje but one minute to your right is the beach and a 10 minute walk to your left is the main promenade. The best thing by far in this hotel is the staff. They are so friendly, helpful and really attentive. If something goes wrong they can't do enough to go out their way to make it better You may look at other hotels and think they are more 5* (such as h10 Atlantic Sunset, so be fooled by the beautiful appearance of it, in my experience the customer service there was shocking - very rude and arrogant also) but the guest relations of this hotel is 7* A special mention to Maria one the management team, a truly lovely and competent member of the team who is an asset to the hotel. Little Tips: This hotel is really about relaxing and luxury. If you want a hotel where there is 'more going on' with activities/entertainment etc; this may not be the one for you. For me though, for winter sun rejuvenation it is perfect If you've booked B&B, they offer Half Board for 4 nights at the reduced price of 30 Euros and evening (so 120 per person). This may be worth doing as gives you a few nights to eat out. I've never had the evening meal so can't comment as there is plenty of places around. Also their Beach Bar food is available until 4.30 and really good also

“Wonderful Authentic Canarian Hotel”

We are here as a couple in this beautiful traditional Canary Island hotel. I normally write my review when we get back but feel that due to recent reviews the staff and hotel definitely warrant a five star review. You have wonderful staff here, fabulous rooms and excellent food. The areas around the poolside have plenty of space with not many people reserving beds. Yes there is some building works going on. They are constantly thriving to upgrade each area and this has to be done at some time especially as we are getting close to Christmas. The building works outside the hotel is obviously out of the hotels control yes sitting on top of this area can be noisy but the various pool areas you have at the hotel the noisy areas can be avoided. We are in the gold area but use all of the pool areas for variation. All areas are suitable for children. I must mention the spa as it is one of the best I’ve ever seen absolutely beautiful. The staff make this hotel Monika is wonderful and nothing is too much trouble and Victoria. I feel awful as I’m sure that I have spelt their names wrong! Filipe is lovely at our pool bar again couldn’t do enough for you. If you want authentic Spanish hotels with a 5 star experience then this hotel definitely has it. “Beautiful 5* hotel in a stunning location”

This was our first time visiting this beautiful hotel. The check-in was seamless and the lovely young lady that checked us in was very helpful. This was our first time visiting this beautiful hotel. The check-in was seamless and the lovely young lady that checked us in was very helpful. We were shown to our lovely room (on the 6th floor) which had the most beautiful Seaview and ticked every box perfectly. The hotel certainly lived up to its 5* rating. The only slight disappointment for us was the following: 1. The pool floor in the main pool clearly is in need of attention and had started to break up in several areas. This was very clear to see and seemed such a shame for such a lovely hotel. 2. The restaurant was lovely but didn't seem to flow properly between stations, but mainly the food was never very warm We were surprised to see a microwave for us all to use if we wanted to warm our meal up. This seemed very strange. 3. The hotel had a lot of areas that were literally left in darkness day & night, this made it feel less friendly in our opinion. None of these issues took away from our lovely trip and would not put us of off returning to this beautiful place. The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect, with a very short walk to the beautiful beach which we spent many hours enjoying. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we look forward to returning in the future.
