This was our third visit to the now named Alua Soul Menorca as before it was known just as the S'Algar Hotel. We like to return here as our previous visits provide us with exactly what we wish from a holiday, relaxation, good food and all round cleanliness plus some warm sunshine and we were not disappointed this time round despite having some reservations on reading some previous reviews that it had not maintained previous standards. In our opinion the hotel bedrooms have gone up a notch having been recently refurbished, the beds are extremely comfy with the shower and washing facilities along with a toilet in the bathroom excellent there is always plenty of hot water on demand also the rooms are cleaned and beds made up daily to a very high standard. We opted for a sea view room which includes a balcony or terrace with 3 piece furniture. I would highly recommend this as it now includes an upgrade to "My Favourite Lounge" which is an excellent facility. This area to anyone familiar with the hotel is where the front terrace used to be and it provides complimentary drinks including chilled beers or wine, coffee or tea, small baguettes, cakes and pastries between 10am - 9pm. It is covered and screened at both ends to give it that exclusive feel making you feel privileged to have access to this. We were on half board so this made a great option for a snacked lunch. Also this upgrade includes complimentary drinks put in the fridge in your room on arrival but bear in mind there is a charge of 10 euro to refill. The food in the restaurant was also of good quality with plenty of choices for breakfast with all egg offerings, bacon cereals etc at dinner it would be extremely hard not to find something to your taste and it was reasonably hot and to be fair the logistics involved to keep everything piping hot for the amount of people being catered for is nigh on impossible. A nice addition to the restaurant is an outside balcony with several tables for couples. I must also add that all the staff in the hotel are pleasant, well mannered and always helpful with any request. Both pool areas are accessed across the road which is not a problem as it is a quiet resort and it's only a matter of a few yards. The large pool does have piped music played during the day which was not as intrusive as we thought it may be but we opted for the adult pool which is behind the main pool which has plenty of sunbeds and parasols available. There was entertainment each night sometimes on the hotel lobby bar terrace or at another bar 100 yards away called Dinky's or if you fancy a stroll at the sister hotel up the hill about 1/2 mile away. The resort is probably not for anyone that likes a bit more to see or do as there is only a couple of hotels, 2 supermarkets and one other restaurant in the square but that suited us as we are in our 60's and prefer it that way So if you are looking for a nice chilled out relaxing holiday with good food and accommodation with excellent facilities don't hesitate to book you will not be disappointed....we may return for a 4th time who knows! P.S if any of the S'algar diving team find a wedding ring near to the steps on the sea bed it's mine !!!
