My honest review of my recent stay in the hotel Negatives We arrived late (11pm) on reception we got told there was no way of getting any food or drink in the hotel. Not even a complimentary bottle of water in our room. So we carted our suitcases to the room then headed out and no shops were open! Next day I mentioned it and was told there was a vending machine with water and other drinks, no mention of it the night before. We were hot, tired and the last thing we wanted was to venture out looking for water. Eventually we found a bar and we got a drink. By which time my little girl was crying. Not a good start. The bar,eating and entertainment area. It was roasting and I mean roasting. It was outside and often of an evening we struggled to get a seat to eat as they had all been taken for the entertainment. It was all outside and in mid August the heat was unbearable. I’m guessing other months it’s more suitable but for that month air conditioned indoor area would have been better. Don’t wear white or light colours in the pool you’ll get them turning yellow. Now the negative is out the way I’ll go into the positives and there are a lot. The room It was brilliant. Ample size for me , my partner and my daughter. The shower was powerful and never struggled for hot water. Towels could have been a bit bigger but were fine enough. Air con was exceptionally good and the view from our balcony was the pool which was nice. Also a maiden on the balcony which was great. The food Can’t fault it. I’ve been to a lot of all inclusive hotels and although this was smaller the food was great! The best paella I’ve ever had. Cakes amazing too and always a great variety. Chef on hot griddle doing fresh meats and fish as well as ample salads and food on the hot counter. Food was always hot too. Alex the waiter was amazing, nothing was too much trouble and he always had a big smile on his face. Credit to the hotel. Entertainment The kids loved it and the mini disco was a hit. They try their best to get you all to have a good time. There was a parrot show on whilst we were there and it was brilliant. During the day a lovely lady did the entertainment and she was a big hit with all the kids and had such a lovely way with everyone. Pool Brilliant size and i absolutely loved the fake grass it was so much better than tiles on feet and obviously not slippy. Sunbeds no issue in height of season we always got one. Parasols plenty too. Life guards work so hard and are on the ball which is good. Area You can’t get much better, it’s literally down the road from all the shops and bars and the beach. The hill which people say is a struggle was literally just the pavement slightly is steep. Nothing at all really we hardly noticed it. Lots of shops, close to main bus routes and the beach is fab. All in all a great holiday. Only thing that let us down was the evening heat. However that’s no one’s fault and comes with booking during summer season when you have a child in school. Highly recommend and would definitely go back. 100%

Booked a last minute mini break for me and my 8 year old daughter, and we weren’t disappointed. Complex has a lovely, friendly and calm feel to it. Fab welcome from Tony on arrival. Rooms basic, but really clean, and beds soooo comfy! Pool was ideal with a deeper area for swimming/jumping in, but also a shallower area with a great water slide! Always plenty of sunbeds around the pool, even well beyond the 10am opening time, but sun worshippers need to be prepared to move around if they want to access the sun all day. Food good, but drinks quality could be improved. That said, we’ve stated in 4* hotels where both have been so much worse, so our expectations were exceeded with the 3* rating. Special mentions to Alex in the bar, who was always so upbeat and accommodating, and Marian in the restaurant, who I witnessed show true kindness to children she served. Overall, a fabulous sunshine break that was just what we needed. Plazamar Serenity Resort, we will be back!

A nice break at Plazamar. The hotel is what you would/should expect for a 3 star all inclusive in my opinion. We travelled as a party of 9 with 2 babies and one young child. The food was lovely. Fresh and tasty. Not the biggest buffet but certainly enough to choose from. It was also clear that the chef's cared about what the guests thought of their food, which was nice to see. I can imagine it may get a bit 'samey' if you're there for 2 weeks but there are plenty of nice restaurants near by if you fancy a change. The staff were generally friendly and the cleanliness of the hotel was fine. We also appreciated the 'no music by the pool' rule as it can be irritating to others (headphones do exist). Blandine (the main entertainment host) was lovely and not overpowering as can sometimes be the case in these kinds of hotels. The kids loved her and her patience with them is something I can only aspire to! The main issue for us was noise around the apartments. The complex is on the small side so chances are your room will overlook the stage and bar/seating area. Not as much of a problem if you're allocated to the third level but the ground and first floors are not ideal. The entertainment finished at 10:30 which is fine. But obviously there is continued noise with people enjoying themselves in the bar area. No issue here but some nights this went on until the early hours. It would be nice if the overnight reception supervisor could be a little proactive in checking that people are being respectful to others with young children who may be trying to sleep. Many of the rooms at Plazamar are also adjoining, meaning there is a wooden door in the wall connecting your room to someone else's. Very strange if you've not experienced this before. Also quite loud and bright when the light shines through it. Overall, this is good hotel with a fantastic location. We enjoyed our stay. If you book 3 star and expect 4/5 star you will be disappointed. We thought this was a fine 3 star family break.

We recently stayed in Plazamar Serenity Resort for 7 nights. Some of the positives from my stay were the beds were comfortable. The shower had great pressure and there was plenty of hot water. There was a big pool in the resort with plenty of sunbeds available. The resort is located close to shops and restaurants. Some of the negatives I experienced was the cleaners never stocked up our shampoo and cleaning supplies. Also, the cleaners were not very thorough with cleaning, old cotton buds and hair clips left behind from previous guests. The front door to the apartment was extremely difficult to open. When using pool facilities kids were kicking balls into pool extremely hard nearly hitting people in the pool, seems to be no rules and lifeguard doesn’t intervene at all. We also noticed people were throwing food into the pool from sun beds and there was food floating around the pool. People were also smoking and vaping beside the pool which as a non-smoker is not ideal for us. The door into the bathroom was creaking and woke my partner at night. Overall, best suited if you are travelling with young kids as entertainment is provided throughout the day and at night and all inclusive is an option.
