“AMAZING ALL INCLUSIVE FAMILY HOLIDAY!”

We travelled to Club Cala Barca as a family of 4 with our 2 boys aged 5 & 7. TUI website advised transfer 1 hour 15 mins, but it actually took 1 hour 45 mins, which was not ideal considering it was late in the evening. We arrived at the hotel around 10.30pm. There was a small queue for check-in... more

“Family fun with lots of facilities and entertainment”

Just back from a great week at Club Cala Barca. The facilities are great for families and adults, with an endless agenda of entertainment for all. The complex has lots of swimming pools and great areas for kids (we travelled with a 4 and 2 year old and both loved the slide and kids pools). Food... more

“Family Hotel not for Adults without children”

I chose this Hotel in error as thought it would provide quieter areas what with having 10 pools. The 1.9m deep pools always attracted families with children so couldn't get much peace there either. The main restaurant was horrendously loud and i had to revert to my earplugs at breakfast . Whilst ... more

“Mixed experience”

We were initially in an 'apartment', in the furthest block. As lots of others have said, this is quite far away if you have small children or any mobility issues (normal walking speed would say only 5 mins, but with a 3 year old much longer, and not doable to just pop back if you've forgotten som... more

  • Yes, guests at Iberostar Club Cala Barca have highlighted that: We travelled to Club Cala Barca as a family of 4 with our 2 boys aged 5 & 7. TUI website advised transfer 1 hour 15 mins, but it actually took 1 hour 45 mins, which was not ideal considering it was late in the evening. We arrived at the hotel around 10.30pm. There was a small queue for check-in – kids were exhausted so we asked to just get our key and check in as quickly as possible, but it still seemed to take a while. We had to wait for a man in a golf cart to take us to our room, which again was annoying as we just wanted to get the boys to bed. Finally, we got into our room and the sofa beds were not made up, nor were there any spare bed sheets etc for us to do so!! We had to put the boys to sleep in our bed as they literally couldn’t keep their eyes open by this time. We called reception about 5 times asking for someone to come up and make the beds – eventually someone arrived at about 11.30pm and we were finally able to get to bed. Really not a good start to our holiday! Our room was 4676 – I had researched the hotel before arriving and asked for block 47 or 48, as you have to pay more to upgrade to any of the 50 rooms, as they are in a better location. But block 46 was a good compromise and still in a great location overlooking a pool & bar/ snack bar, and virtually opposite the beach. Our room was on the top floor (there are no lifts). The stairs were very poorly lit and quite scary walking up at nighttime, could really do with better lighting here. The room was spacious with plenty of storage. Main bedroom had a huge double bed. Lounge had 2 sofa beds, large TV & a small balcony. Bathroom in the middle of the 2 rooms. The room was very clean and the maids came in every day, however it definitely needs updating as it did look tired/ worn in places. Enough of the negatives! From here on, it was nothing but a POSITIVE experience!! Pool towels – 20 euros each towel, refunded on check out. Safe – I think this was about 10 euros, I can’t remember exactly – refunded on check out. Tourist tax – this was about 55 euros for 10 nights. Food – Fantastic! So much choice! There are 2 main restaurants, also a Mexican and a Mediterranean – neither of which you have to book. The only one you need to book is the beach restaurant – lovely BBQ food & salad etc. You can also get freshly made food from several of the bars – I would highly recommend the delicious pizzas! There were also 3 food trucks serving chicken & chips, hot dogs, pasta & paninis. Also a whippy ice cream machine but we didn’t really enjoy the ice cream, found it a bit “powdery”! Bars – Excellent choice of drinks! I was drinking Aperol Spritz every day, it’s unusual for this to be part of an all-inclusive! Beer was good as were the generous spirit measurements too! And we enjoyed several mojitos in the evening! Fizzy drinks on tap for the kids, water, slushies and chocolate milk which my 5 year old drank gallons of! The hotel do not have straws so if you want these you need to buy them in the supermarket. Pools – Brilliant selection of places to swim – 10 pools in total. Splash park area is fantastic with slides, tipping bucket and bouncy dome. It does get a bit crazy on the slides and some of the bigger kids were a bit rough – our 5 year old got hurt quite badly by an older child going down the slide straight after him and he got kicked in the back - the lifeguards need to keep a better watch over this in our opinion. You can always get a sunbed somewhere, but the prime spots right next to the pool do get snapped up early. Entertainment – Each evening at 8.30pm, there was either a quiz or bingo. We did the quiz a few times and we all really enjoyed it! You need to scan the QR code on the screen on stage, choose a team name and then you select the answers from multiple choice answers on your phone. Great fun! The show usually started at 9.15pm – we saw a fantastic magician, and a brilliant acrobatics show. There were also some singing & dancing shows put on by the animation staff – very professional and well choreographed but the kids did find these shows a little boring. After the show there was a usually a disco. One evening there was a silent disco which was absolutely fantastic, such a laugh for the whole family! The kid’s disco was at 5.30pm on the main stage but we never made it to any of these as we could never drag the kids out of the pool! There were other various activities going on at the stage throughout the day – the foam party was so much fun and it went on for about an hour so there was a chance for everyone to join in at some point! Kids Club – both of our boys did activities with the kid’s club. You can drop them off and come back later, but I stayed with them. The staff are great with the kids and really good fun – my 5 year old had a soft spot for Alex There was also a wooden playground next to the kid’s club which all looked new, the boys really enjoyed playing in there. The hotel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere but there are several shops onsite – supermarket, toy shop, souvenir shop, clothes shop – everything you need! The hotel is on a small beach which is nice to have, but the best beach is a 10/15 minute walk and massively worth doing! The walk is extremely rocky & not suitable for pushchairs, very young kids or people with walking difficulties. Our 7 year old fell over whilst on the walk and cut/ bruised his leg quite badly. The second time we visited the beach we went by taxi which reception called for us, only took 2 mins and cost about 6 euros. Ask for the taxi driver to take you to Hotel Playa Mondrago. The beach here is absolutely beautiful, one of the best I’ve ever seen – powdery white sand and crystal clear turquoise sea. Beware of the jellyfish though! There is also a bar/ restaurant here and we enjoyed a delicious tapas lunch. Overall we had an absolutely fantastic holiday at Club Cala Barca – 10 days wasn’t long enough! We would definitely come back, but next time we’d get a taxi transfer, rather than using TUI’s service. If you have any questions just drop me a message and I’ll be more than happy to answer
