I stayed at the Pabisa Sofia for two nights after our flight home was cancelled by easyJet. We booked a sea view room and was allocated a sea and pool view room when we arrived. The reception was helpful and we was checked in very quickly. We was allocated a room on the seventh floor. The communal landing smelt of fresh paint and appeared to have been renovated recently. Our room was modern and very clean but small in size, but this wasn’t an issue for us as it was just me and my five year old travelling. The bathroom has a shower and space is quite limited but manageable. The view was great and we had a functioning tv and fridge in the room. We stayed half board as it seemed such a good deal. The food was of a good standard with lots of choice available at breakfast and dinner. At dinner there was even an ice cream section, sweet area and lots of cakes to choose from. At dinner they even had fresh shell on prawns one evening. Myself and my son was impressed. Drinks cost extra at dinner but at breakfast there are juices and water available. The waiting staff in the restaurant are really friendly and helpful. Always greeting us and making conversation which was a nice touch. Especially for my little one who’s trying to learn Spanish. The hotel pool is lovely and there’s also a pool bar. There was no issue with getting a sunbed, however there are trees surrounding some of the pool area, which made it quite shaded in parts during the morning, but there was plenty of sunbeds to move too if you wanted to be in the sun. The hotel was a mix of younger/older adult groups and couples. Even still the pool area during the day was very chilled. My only downside to this hotel was that smoking is allowed around the pool, which wasn’t great as I don’t smoke and I don’t really like that around my five year old. But we just moved sunbeds away from people smoking. It would be better having an area for smoking away from the pool or an area for smoking to take place away from the kids pool. The hotel is located close to the beach, five minute walk max. There’s a great bar nearby called Bavaria where everyone danced and sung along to the e singers. The atmosphere was great. We was the only English in the hotel and resort it seemed, but the German people was friendly and a lot of fun. The hotel is also close to the aquarium, Dino mini golf and Palma too. The bus to Palma takes around 10-15 minutes and is the number 25 bus. We did it a few times and it was very easy and only 2eur. Other things that could be better are the pillows in the room. Or lack of them. We had two very flat pillows only which wasn’t the most comfortable. The rooms come with an air conditioning unit and ceiling fan so this makes the hot weather more bearable and the room more comfortable. There’s a supermarket a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and a drink machine and sweet area in the hotel too. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and we would return. It was good value for money in my opinion.

Breakfast abundant and varied to be 3 stars, the dinner a lot of vegetarian variety (meat and fish only grilled at the time). The area (Arenal beach) with a lot of drunken Germans. We will come back but in March.

I pick my holiday based on reviews - I’ve been honest and as balanced as possible- as I know these reviews have a big impact. I’ve written as a Pro and Con list. The PROs far outweigh the CONs PRO- very short ride from airport PRO - quiet accommodation with very few other people especially as start of season . PRO- Floor 7 - a really really lovely view to pool & beach PRO - cleaning ladies very very friendly and always spoke to my young child. PRO - room was cleaned and tidied nicely everyday with fresh towels. There is also an option “do not disturb “ if required. PRO - the food ! It’s always a risk with all inclusive! Great food fresh and tasty (I’m veggie ). Breakfast (8-11) great choices each day -cereals with various milks including oat milk. Seeded buns, & baguette Bread & sliced bread with self use toaster, lovely soft breads/ pain au chocolate/ pain au raisin/ chocolate chip cookie, cakes, donuts , pancakes, with Nutella. Various jams and yoghurts & honey. It was all laid out buffet style - with show case cooking. Boiled eggs / scrambled eggs/ fried eggs/ mushrooms/ sausages. Fruit (melon/kiwi/strawberries in sauce. Lots of choice! Can’t fault the food in any way. Lunch (12-1pm) was pasta/chips (very nice ) chicken burger / lots of fish/veg lasagne/beef tomatoes, olives, white onion, salads. Ice cream/ churros with chocolate / small pots of set vanilla yoghurt with fruit sauce top (all very nice). Dinner (6.30-9) breads/pastas/chips/roasted veg/ mushroom/roasted veg/ layered /boiled/chipped potatoes/ fish & salad - always fresh cooked pasta with various sauces (cheese/tomato/bolognaise) chicken /fish/ Everything was fresh and cooked before us. Waiters attentive clearing plates and glasses swiftly. Bedroom - 2 adults & 1 child The double bed and single bed were about 1 foot between so we easily pushed them together happily. Had a small fridge. We also had a small wall mounted tv (not working) reported this on the first day but it wasn’t fixed , wish didn’t bother us. The balcony with really such lovely views- and a table with 2 chairs. Outstanding to watch sunsets. You also have small fridge. . The beach is very short walk with decent and affordable places to eat and lots of supermarkets nearby. You can hear bars playing music at night but it’s not intrusive and stops before midnight. There is a sight seeing train which goes up and down the sea side. Everything is kept clean and working 2 lifts service the 8 floors easily. Reception is always manned speaking Spainish/ German and a little English. They have a small selection of crisps /chocolate & sweets & a whole fridge of soft & alcoholic drinks to purchase (cash only). CONs unfortunately not allowed room for 2h after arrival (we had been up all night & had a young child). We could see the pool being cleaned & the banisters drilled and lots of workmen around. We went to pool side which looked nice but told we could not use the pool for another day at-least - as it was being treated. My little one was disappointed. We were given our All Inclusive wrist tags & were able to have drinks. Only reception members spoke English- which is fine - we are in Spain after all! We were told the hotel only opened that day (it was 11am!) - which would explain why the pool wasn’t operational , there was hardly anyone there - things like no butter / condiments in dining area & workmen about the place/ drilling going on through first day. Unfortunately the workmen on the main entrance to hotel continued to work for 6 days soldering & drilling the walkway to entrance hall. CON- I had to report to Reception That 3 people had come in our room without knocking etc, they said likely just checking the room or cleaning to check hotel was ready for guests! This didn’t happen again. Also asked they fix the tv but that wasn’t fixed during our weeks stay The all inclusive drinks was House wine/7up sugar free, coke, fizzy orange/ or beer. The juices were essentially strong concentrated squash from a bending machine and water. I would on balance definitely recommend the Hotel Pabisa - major pros being the food & location. The pool is freezing! PLEASE NOTE - The All inclusive doesn’t mean anything at the pool bar unfortunately other than - water/coke/orange- all alcoholic drinks have to be purchased and no snacks other than ham sandwich, cold pasta & dried up croissants - which is at real odds with the good foot within the hotel! Location 5/5 Venue 4/5 Food 5/5 Simply because the Pool Bar though a nice clean venue doesn’t give you what I would consider All Inclusive service. I’d happily visit again and feel it was worth the money
