Currently staying at the newly refurbed hotel. Wondering if the older reviews were bogus because we are having a fabulous stay! The food is fantastic and there’s lots to choose from. It varies every day. Best all inclusive quality we’ve experienced! Cocktails and sangria and beer are a hit with us. Great location and the hotel are pulling out the stops to check that customers are happy as well as providing entertainment. Lovely comfy beds! Would recommend.

Best ever. Amazing lunchtime menu. Just checked in so updates to come. Great staff at reception and bar. Don't be put off by previous comments. Fantastic renovation. “Superb stay”

We have just returned from an excellent all inclusive 6 night stay at Hotel Palia Tropico. The hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment and looks super throughout. Everything is clean and new. We had a side sea view room in the main block on the 3rd floor. Our room was immaculate, good big bathroom with a big shower, toilet & sink. The main room had a big bed (2 singles together), TV on the wall, big full length mirror, fridge, wardrobe & safe. Air conditioning is superb and remote operated which is ideal to turn on/off during the night without having to get up. Lights all operated from bedside. The main pool area is super, lots of available sun beds, a big pool, smaller children's splash pool & bar area. The bar is self-serve for soft drinks & beer. All Inclusive cocktails are served from here also. There is a smaller area off to the side with 3 big bali beds available. There is a second rooftop area available to adults only. It is much comfier, with bigger & comfier sunbeds, small pool to dip into & bar area. With it being on the 5th floor it gets more of a breeze so is generally more comfortable to sunbathe. There is also a lounge bar downstairs which leads out to the front of the hotel and an entertainment timetable we went out a walk along the beachfront each night so didn't utilise this. The food in the hotel was amazing, my partner ate very well for 3 meals a day for our stay. I would have rated the hotel 5* however, I found the food situation a little more difficult. I have celiac and require a gluten free diet. I alerted the hotel to this before my arrival and was assured they could cater for this (which they mostly could). However, the buffet items don't have allergen information on the labels, this would make life for anyone with an allergy much easier if it stated whether the dish contained gluten, dairy etc. Instead each meal I had to find the head chef and ask him to take me round the dining room telling me what I could and could not have. Breakfast for me was a disappointment the only options available for me were fruit or an omelette, no gluten free bread or cereal or any other hot options available. Lunch & dinner had excellent options each day/night I was able to eat well. On Mexican night they had gluten free wraps too which was super! The head chef at times seemed annoyed to have to come and show us around the dining hall, he was a busy man and I was having to take him away from what ever station he was at to show me what I could and couldn't eat. Having allergen labels would prevent this. At times he was more than happy to assist and others he was grumpy about it and unfortunately we felt like a nuisance. I also found with some dishes he wasn't sure whether they were gluten free or not, given it is an allergy I just stayed away from these but it wasn't always very reassuring. A few minor changes would rectify this. Overall we had an excellent stay, we would recommend & return to this hotel.

“New paint covering the old cracks.”

A number of safety and security issues with the room. Electrical sockets not fitted safely and the balcony door had no lock so the room was not fully lockable and so unsafe. Spend time dealing with it, made worse by not having a phone in the room so kept going back and forth. Toilet seat not fit... more

A number of safety and security issues with the room. Electrical sockets not fitted safely and the balcony door had no lock so the room was not fully lockable and so unsafe. Spend time dealing with it, made worse by not having a phone in the room so kept going back and forth. Toilet seat not fitted well, coffee and tea in the room never refilled. Aircon is brand new and worked very well. Room safe not actually secured to anything so a thief could just walk off with it. The ants weren't so bad. In saying that the hotel was bright and fresh after a refurb, as it should be. No access to pool until 10am. Not good. The best thing was the food. It was amazing. The pool is a good size and is partially shaded by late afternoon which is great to let young kids play out of the sun. Great views out across the beach. No noisy kids club, a bonus for me. Great views from the rooftop. The rooftop pool is not a pool, it's barely bigger than a large hit tub. Rooftop is adult only area.
