Another really good quality Barcelo hotel (the third we have visited). It is an adults only hotel so quieter than many, but that's a good thing. No issues at all over pressure on hotel resources (pool, private beach, gym, restaurant, bar), hotel staff very obliging and the whole atmosphere of the hotel is calm and chilled which made for a great week away. The famous Barcelo evening buffet did not disappoint. The resort, Illetas, is really nice, high quality and easy to access Palma from using the frequent (and cheap) local bus service. Highly recommend this relatively small hotel which is excellently positioned in the Bay of Palma.

When I first decided to write this there were a few factors I'd not considered. So I held on a bit and rather than putting good and bad points I'm going to review positives and improvements as I think this hotel has potential with a little work. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised, the foyer was bright and modern and we were greeted with a smile and alcohol...good start. We only booked a basic room as it was a last minute get away, but the room was not great and didn't look like anything advertised, I complained and to their credit they moved us and the room was OK, clean but a little run down and lacked storage, but perfectly fine. The views from the pool deck are stunning , the pool is nice, there is a very small lido and rocky cove private to the hotel and down the ladder on to the rocks and into the sea you go, not suitable for elderly or those bad on their feet, but the water is great. The hotel seems to suffer from lack of management, breakfast is nice but not run very well, usually you would get seated and tea/coffee but this is a bit of a free for all , not that it matters, I'd just expect a little more from a hotel of this calibre. The food is very nice and plentiful, we only has lunch buy it was very nice. The bar is small and when it was busy the bar man was a flustered and bordered on being rude, but the girls serving are lovely. The spa is small but clean and serviceable and the treatments we had were really nice. There are very few restaurants around the immediate area, the hot stones place is really nice and the little restaurant down the hill also nice. Taxis are hard to get but the no.4 bus runs every 10 mins to Palma and other great places for 2 euros each. Go to Santa Catalina for a street of great restaurants and bars. On the whole a great 3/4 star hotel and with a little improvement could be 4.5 star plus.
